Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

as far as i can expect myself to like an english pale, this wasnt bad. i bought if cus its from montana, too bad brewers sell. seems as if its not made there anymore and my guess is that its not as good as it used to be.

Pours with good tan foam, long lasting. Aroma is fresh, slightly sweet like mown hay. Decent hops, a bit weak on the grain and yeast. Has a fizzy mouth feel. This is a true classic, but has been long surpassed by other great Pale Ales.

Bottle-RI. Poured a dark brown with a shallow off white head. Very full body with a lasting maltiness. Nose consists of nuts and chocolate.

Pours dark amber with a beige head. Has the aroma of caramel, yeast and a little hops. The flavor upfront is of nuts, then ends with hints of caramel, chocolate and a touch of hops. Leaves a little burnt aftertaste. This beer is actually a little complex and good. Not bad for a beer I found at wegmans.
