3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2012 22 oz. Clear orange-copper with a lasting topping of creamy foam. Aromas of earthy herbal resin, waxy citrus, caramel and musty grape. Taste is big herbals and resin, husky caramelized grain, toast, citrus and wood pith. Near-medium body is a little too frothy and is well dried by the rough-sawn lumber finish. The choppy finish, plus the large medicinal-herbal taint make this one come off as unpolished and boozy, even at only 7%. Nice potential, but really kind of a mess.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
22 oz served in a Great Divide pint glass
A - Pours a hazy dark copper with 3 fingers of sudsy off white head. Very good retention with lots of 3D lacing left behind.
S - Bready biscuits, caramel malts, pine hops, light citrus,
T - Earthy caramel malt with edges of woody tannins, some herbal hops and whispers of citrus. Has an almost pecan like bitterness.
M - Medium body, medium carbonation.
This seemed like a tired IPA. Lackluster and very forgettable.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hazy medium orange amber with a generous and lasting frothy white head. Aroma is surprisingly muted for an IPA, none of the expected aggressive hoppy aromatics, mostly just sweet caramel with light florals. English toffee flavoured malts dominate here, with light floral hop notes and a slightly herbal bitter finish. A low-key IPA, but with a nice malt profile that I enjoyed anyway. I can see why hopheads may lament.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: Sub par IPA - lacks the hop wallop i expected and is a bit thin in the middle.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pour is a cloudy amber with a large white head. Aroma is a pleasent hop and not much else. Flavor is way more malty with an ever so slight hop but finishes with a wierd sourness. This was more of an English style IPA but Iím thinking the brewer was not going for that. Kinda like someoneís first attempt at homebrewing an IPA.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
This poured an amber color with a white head. Aroma contains citrus, caramel, wet cardboard. Flavor is kind of yeasty, caramel, oranges. Aftertaste is somewhat bitter. Overall it sucks.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Total Wine-McLean, 1/31/13
Aroma: The nose is heavy malty, with lots of caramel, pale malts, and some grapefruit hops
Appearance: It pours a reddish-orange color with a lasting beige head and some medium lace
Flavor: This one has a medium-plus sweet flavor, heavy caramel, and a light-medium hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it is kind of sticky, has an average carbonation, and a mid-dry finish
For me, this was not a particularly good example of an IPA. The hops are a bit lacking here and the sweet caramel malts are a little too present. It isnít terrible as a beer, but as an IPA, it misses the mark.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber poured a hazy amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and light grapefruit zest. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, grapefruit zest and a hint of pine with a smooth dry lightly bitter lingering earthy finish.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Was hesitant about getting this as five dollar bombers are like 50 cent avocados--tempting, but often disappointing. Not really encouraged by this being from Chugís private stash. I can imagine the profile. Name: Chug. Favorite Style: Yes. Preferred Drinkware: Funnel. As far as the actual beer...pours a nice dark copper with very little head and similar lacing. Fairly active carbonation with some clinging bubbles. Nose is very malty with some roasted grains. Flavor, while not bad, is more malt than hops. Finish is clean. Overall, not a bad IPA--particularly for the price, though I would have relaxed the malt a bit and increased the hops.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours darkish hazy orange amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is light pitted fruit with roasty malt. Med body. Flavor is light pitted fruit, roasty malt, and something floral/herbal. Itís dryer than not, quite hoppy, and decently bitter - but not a NW type.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz bottle served in a snifter.
Pours hazy amber with a tan head of modest size and durability. No "big bite" from this IPA which has been tamed by a good load of caramel and other malts. Still plenty of flavor and a moderate bitterness, with herbal and spicy hops dominating the flavor. The aroma is rather tame and sweet for style, but has some complexity and fruitiness plus a nice nutty aspect.
O: A decent IPA, especially for the price. The relatively high ABV is well hidden.
