3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark golden with a fully receding tan head. Aroma of flowery hops, resinous alpha acids, and mild citrus. Taste is similar to aroma with more notes of sweet caramel and grapefruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly resinous with lively carbonation. Enjoyable quaff, but nothing special.

1.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
Carbonated hazy amber with floaters and a moderate head. Tart huney, caramel and apple aroma. Very tart in flavor. I think this one has gone bad.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2006 The aroma is very medicinal with honey, citrus, and malt. The appearance is amber with a small head. The flavor is medicinal like the aroma with a strong bitter taste accompanied by lots of toasted caramel malt. The palate is thin and the aftertaste is like cardboard. I didnít really like this beer. I think itís starting to fall apart from age.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear amber supporting a thin off-white head and minimal lacing. Mildly citrusy aroma. Bland flavor with only slight citrus and caramel notes and with very little hop bitterness. Somewhat thin texture and a weak, if clean finish.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. This is my second of two Spanish Peaks beers. The first said it was brewed in King City, Ca. This one says Denver, Co. Ratebeer has it as a contract brew by Mendocino( Hopland) and when I Googled it I got Bozeman Brewing... Stupid marketers and there "Letís brew a beer" ideas. I hope this beer sucks!
Pours a rich hazy copper color with a big off-white head. Malty aroma with orange notes. Primarily a malty beer with very little hop flavor or aroma. Slight honey notes. Whoever brews it, it seems fairly well done if uninspired.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2008 (bottle - 12 oz) Copper pour with a thin white head and lots of carbonation. Aroma is a mix of sweet malts and boiled carrots. Bitter flavor at the beginning with a little bit of sweet malts in the middle. The finish is kind of bitter with a taste of dish soap. Not bad but just kind of soapy.

Bottle: Aroma is mostly malt with caramel, cookie, and light fruit. Slightest hint of flowery hops are there but are really subdued. Pours a transparent orangish-amber with the slightest touch of haze. Insignificant white head diiminishes quickly. Some caramel and toffee maltiness up front. Moderate flowery hop finish with hints of metal.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a lightly hazy copper color with an absolutely prodigious pale tan head that is driven by an incessant over the top carbonation more typical of a Gueuze. Am I imagining it, or is the aroma slightly funky with damp earthy notes. There is a bit of herbal hop notes in the aroma as well. The taste is quite dry and quite fizzy as it hits my mouth. The finish has an interesting metallic note to it. This reminds me a bit of Orval actually, with funky earthy notes, almost a bit musty and a definite hoppiness to it as well. If I had to guess a Brettanomyces strain seems to have grabbed a hold of this bottle, yippee it makes this a bit more interesting. This beer is quite easily quaffable, and the level of funkiness is fairly subdued but noticeable. If it were not for the metallic note this would be a nice beer that was vaguely in the Petit Orval style of things. Too bad the brewers did not do it on purpose.
