UPDATED: JUN 1, 2010 Sample at the 1st annual Columbus Beerfest on 05/28/10: Pours a bright golden color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of grainy malt with notes of yeast and fruit. Medium body with flavors of fruit, yeast and sweet bready malt. The finish is fruity with a lingering malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Sampled on tap at the new Plano Gingerman. The beer pours a gold-orange color with a white head. The aroma is a mix of bready malt and some corn and wheat. The flavor is bready malt, grapes and floral hops. The flowers and grapes stand out quite a bit and a are a bit overwhelming. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

A deep golden pour in a nice spaten maibock glass (best part of it!) ... lots of creamy white head ... sweet malty/bready aroma ..... taste was sweet and a bready/straw taste with a light spice bite ..... medium bodied really nothing special here typical macro german taste .... awesome glass though

On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a clear golden yellow with a thin white head. Grain, a little bit of hops, somewhat earthy. Medium bodied, sweet, candied grains. Crisp finish, fruity citrus, and even more grain.

A nice tall mug of this at a German bar was a nice experience. deep golden color and a foamy head. the aroma was a touch of spice and yeast. The flavor was once again spice but some graininess and corn. a simple and ok beer

(tap at Eli Cannon’s in Middletown CT, 6.5%)

good and drinkable, some balanced gentle flavors.
style seems a bit no-mans-land to me as it lacks the character of a doppelbock or the simplicity of an amber lager or the robustness of a dark lager.
