At Taco Mac. Gold pour, mostly white head. Very grainy aroma with some decent yeast notes and light spice. Flavor is crisp and boring. Not bad, just boring. Grainy, malty, and a bit dry on the finish. Meh.

Draft at the 2009 beer fest in Manheim PA. Filtered golden yellow, standard Heller Bock look. Thick and full of Spaten yeast flavor, quite nice. Rich, with a touch of noticeable alcohol that goes along with the malt liquor aroma. Old school, but very well done. Mild, distant hop balance.

Draft Pours a clear golden with a decent white head. The head leaves quickly. Has a sweet, grainy aroma. Just a hint of hops present. Has a good carbonation. The flavor was fresh and clean. Tastes like a beer but not a lot of depth. Very middle of the road. Has a light body. A watery texture. The finish is okay.

On tap at Emmetts Tavern in Downers Grove, IL. Poured a clear, golden hue with an average white head that diminished quickly to a film and some spotty lacing. The nose was malt, sweet grain, and a hint of spice. The flavor added a little peppery dryness and low hop bitterness. Low carbonation, thus a little watery. Okay, clean, and sessionable.

On tap, Eli Cannon’s. Pours dark gold with a medium sized head. Is this really a maibock? Aroma smelled suspiciously of straw and pale malt, very little depth. Flavor sustains a simple, decidedly mediocre sweet sugar flavor, with a bit of fruit. Not a fan.

Draft at The Porter. Golden yellow color, good amount of carbonation. Aroma is largely hops and citrus, with a slight metallic edge...flavor is along the same lines. Overall a little thin and unbalanced for my tastes.

Clear gold pour with a fluffy white head and drippy lace. Nice hoppy and grainy aroma. Medium bodied with hints of grains, hops, and spice. Slightly dry finish
