4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 alebrewer (139) - Mentor, Ohio, USA - MAY 12, 2008
Draught at Charlie Mopps
Nice bright, clear helles Maibock. Not amber like Einbeck’s maibock but almost as good.

It pours a clear amber with a thick, fine-bubbled white head. Aroma is strongly malty and has a fruity hint. Flavor is rich and malty and has a good zing to it - not complex, but tasty and enjoyable. Texture is smooth and pleasant. A nice spring ale.

On draft at the LazyBoy...big time disappointment: Flat, no balls and tasted bitter. Will not try again.

Tap @ SDBC. Fairly smooth and slick in appearance. Dark golden in color. Flavor is somewhat grassy and grainy. A little soapy as well. Not too impressed.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jason (1670) - Easton, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2008
Draft at Porters Pub. Pale golden body with thin head. Aroma is toasted malt, another odd scent that I couldn’t pinpoint. Flavor is bitter, light hops, toasted malt, grainy and a little off taste. This was barely drinkable.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jhumphries69 (1035) - Tyrone, Georgia, USA - MAR 15, 2008
Draft at Taco Mac. Poured a nice, bright gold with yellow highlights and a thin (almost non-existent), white head (that’s the way they pour the pints there...). The aroma was very sweet and malty. The nose has lots of sweet, doughy, typical-Bock malt. The flavor followed the aroma at first: lots of big, sweet malt - like honey-covered, toasted croissants (more melanoidins than that, though). But by mid-palate, the residual sweetness fades a little and reveals an excellent, floral, noble hop flavor and bitterness that reminded me of Bohemian pilsners - so Saaz is my guess for the main hop variety. This was a fantastically refreshing brew - strong and malty like a bock, but with a delightful, dry, hoppy finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body and crisp from carbonation. Overall, very nice.

Light and clear. Aroma of bavarian malt. Taste has a very even malt presence with a sour/flat maibock finish that is typical of the style. Not bad if you like this genre

Draught: Golden colored pour with medium sized white head. Sweet, malty, grainy, grassy aroma. Sweet, bitter tang finish.
