This beer is our speciality. In 1894 Spaten became the first brewery in Munich to produce this brand of light lager. Golden in color with a well-balanced hop-flavor. The full rounded body is a superb balance between hops and a malty sweetness.

BOTTLE 355ML Look: clear straw-yellow with a white frothy head. Aroma: light sweetness, a drop of grassy hops, a hint of toasted bread. Taste: delicate and clean hop bitterness, dry/light acid, sulf? Quite a clean and decent helles.

Bright clear gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth with fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malt, touch of cream and a little slightly war wheaty malt. Very light orange citrus, whisper of honey. Smooth and semi dry finish. Pretty drinkable.

This is a darn good beer. When going to a German restaurant order the Spaten and you won’t be disappointed.

Draft at Spatenhaus an der Oper - Munich. Pours perfectly clear gold with a creamy white head. Cereal and biscuits in the aroma. Light sweet flavor, simple, with more cereal and biscuits, faint hay bitterness, light floral notes. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with more cereal. Basic but supremely drinkable.

Bottle from Aldi, Carrick [140214]
Usual lager appearance, frothy white head, dissipates. Aroma of soft grain, some grassy hop, some light sweet pale malts. Taste of pale malts, light grain, soft grassy hop, bit of spicy hop in there, bit more malty for a lager. Palate - soft carb, light to medium body, fairly oily finish, light sweet malt palate with some soft bitter hop in there. Finish as main flavour, light sweet lager malt finish. Overall - Quite a good lager

Ljust halmgul/halmgul. Härligt skum och klar. Doft av spannmål och svagt kokta grönsaker. Diskret nyans av ädelhumle. Spannmål och maltig även i smak. Ren och fin. Klassisk tysk. Flaskan tar slut snabbt märker jag nu...

50cl bottle from Systebolaget, Sälen. Pours pale golden with a white head. Mild grainy and fruity aroma. Medium sweet and lightly fruity with a mild bitterness. Decent helles, but not quite my thing.
