3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I can see why people like this one so much - an Okto rating above a 3.5 is an accomplishment! The hoppage (is that a word?) is just right - a perfect balance. And the body is mild and drinkable, yet rich in a tapestry of flavors. H-Pschorr is still better, though.

Nice beer. Dark amber color with a thick, creamy head. Easy to drink. Very little aftertaste and very clean.

Kind of a tinny smell to the beginning, I took my time drinking this one, it seemed okay and I would recommend it to my friends,

Ah, one of the nicest parts of fall. Oktoberfest. A good beer, a little too sweet, however.

Deep amber color with a fruity, almost peachy nose. Caramel in the body with a bitterness that sticks its head out slightly. Finish is somewhat sweet. Good stuff.

This was an OK brew. Pretty easy to drink. Pours kind of brassy amber in color. Creamy, quick fading head. Very smooth, a bit hoppy but really more of a full bodied mild beer.

I seem to remember that Spaten was my least favorite of the Munich Maerzens ten years ago. Not so today--perhaps evidence of Paulaner’s/Hacker-Pschorr’s deterioration. Wonderful classic Maerzen flavors combined in a great balance. The key here is the roasted malt flavors, which give the sweet malt the needed relief. Just great, and a bargain at $5.50/six.

Blond with a bit a brown. Malty and yeasty. Only a slight bitterness to it. Seemed to finish a little dry. Very good stuff.
