Amber in color. This medium bodied beer has achieved its impeccable taste by balancing the roasted malt flavor with the perfect amount of hops. Having a rich textured palate with an underlying sweetness true to tradition.

The color of tea. Almost no head and what little there was dissipated immediately. I haven’t tasted anything quite like this beer, and I don’t know if that’s bad, or a sign of my inexperience. Has a sort of manure off-taste, not that I’ve tasted that. Metallic aftertaste (from a bottle).

I drank this beer in a German beer tent at a festival near my house in Jersey. For about 5 hours. I loved it! Good malt and hop combo and put me 3 sheets to the wind. Two Mugs up for this beer.

Attended Oktoberfest at Old World in Huntington Beach last Friday. A couple pitchers of this stuff, a big ol’ slab of Wienerschnitzel, and some fine polka music can really put you in the mood. Sweet, bready aroma. Sweet, roasted, caramel, malty flavor with a hint of coffee and spicyness.

The aroma is a nice promise of things to come, with sweet malt notes and perhaps a hint of caramel. The appearance is nice, though not as pretty as some Oktoberfests, with a typically white head and deep orange body. The flavor is excellent, exemplifying the style. There are sweet malt notes with just enough hops to keep it from going over the edge into sugary. The palate is average. Overall, this is probably the best Oktoberfest I’ve had. Other brewers take note: the brewer did not attempt to make this beer about how much hoppiness the drinker can stand.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2007 9/30/07: Re-rate. Draught at Charlie’s Ale House, Wheaton, IL. Despite some adjustment within categories, I give this brew the same overall score as I did 5 years ago. Malty, German aroma. Copper body with an off-white head. Excellent lace. Malty flavor, dry. A good o’fest. no hint of hops. Moderately sweet. Flavorful. It appears Charlie’s takes care of their tap lines as the character of this brew shines through as it was meant to. 10/26/02: Sweet caramel aroma. Thick, fine bubble head with reddish hue. Good lacing. A little thin on flavor, but makes for a smooth, easy drinking brew. No bite whatsoever. Good aftertaste. Drinkability makes for a good session beer. Although not low in alcohol, I could see drinking many large mugs of the stuff at Oktoberfest in Munich. Ar 8, Ap 5, Fl 6, Pal 5, Ov 14

Clear orangeish-gold in color. Miniscule head. Medium carbonation. Aroma lightly malty and moderately skunky. Flavor was initially somewhat sweet, but quickly turned skunky and thin. Aftertaste was thankfully not quite as skunky, and subtley hoppy. Quite disappointing. Perhaps I got an old bottle? Don’t know ... my local dealer just got the shipment in, so it was at least new to the store ...

Gold and amber colored. Big head split quickly, but left some clingy lace work. Slight malt smell and flavors, but no discernable spice. Subtle hop finish. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this one just lacked ’something’.
