noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle, pilsner glass. Amber brown body with a modest white head. Not much head retention and only minimal lacing. Aromas of apple cider and cellar mustiness. Flavor principally malts, mellow cidery sweetness with a touch of caramel. Just a touch of hops in the bittersweet finish. Drinks very clean, but a little thin on the palate. douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle bought at the Utah State Store. Today college football began, we actually had a 2 minute rain ’storm’ and the Fall beers are back. Pours a light copper color with a very thick off-white head that slowly goes down. A sweet malt and hop aroma. The taste is very nice; a ton of toasted malt flavors, some caramel, biscuit and grainy flavors, sweet, but with a bitter hop finish that leans toward metallic and peppery flavors. Very clean as expected and quite quaffable. Just good beer. Edgekrusher (83), , Alabama, USA Aug 30, 2008 Ah yes, the first Oktoberfest of the year! Nice dark amber pour with thick off white head. Big malty aroma with a slight noble hop bitterness. Taste is a wonderful balance between the malt presence and the hops. Not the best in this style, but good. cdub939 (18), Florida, USA Aug 29, 2008 First smell was like fresh flowers beer flowers that is! Taste was great and smooth
And no additives!
Go Grab some scoth (266), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Aug 29, 2008 Pours clear, medium amber-brown, with a thin white head, not much lacing. Sweet, fruity, malty aroma, like rasins and apples. Medium body, very smooth. Crisp, well-balanced flavor, sweet, malty and caramel at first, with a nice German hop zing in the aftertaste. Pershing (146), Garland, Texas, USA Aug 29, 2008 Amber with a sweet malty aroma. Smooth tasting lager that is a bit feeling. Excellent balance of hops and malt. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Transparent tan-orange color with a quickly dissipating head. Delicate sweet aroma. Creamy and malty with a pleasant spicy hop crispness. Displays a lot of lighter lager characteristics, in a good way, which make it quite a drinkable Oktoberfest. This one is a Ur-classic, pretty much dead center in the range of Oktoberfests. Sandman2222 (42), Florida, USA Aug 25, 2008 Nice amber brew, semi sweet undertone with just enough hops to keep me interested. Oddly enough it’s in a green bottle. It’s a nice way to show that summer is ending.
