Another green bottle. Green glass must be running at a discount, in Germany, these days. This is the third German Märzen that I’ve tried this week that has come from a green bottle. Like the other two, I wasn’t terribly surprised to find this one skunked, only not quite to the extent of its predecessors. Given time to "air out", the aroma reveals a solid nose of bready malt and little else. Medium-bodied and almost creamy with a dry, almost astringent finish. The flavor is of toasted bread, light nuttiness and a dry finish that just barely hints at earthy hops. Aside from the initial skunk, this one is pretty nice. InBev, please switch back to the brown bottle! iowaherkeye (1844), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2007 Draft at The Sanctuary, 9/25/07. Copper amber with a one finger off-white head, fair retention. Aroma of some fruity and caramel notes. Flavor added a bid of juicy raisins, but not in the imperial stout or barley wine type of way. They were moderately sweet and not boozy. Minimal bitterness. Moderate carbonation with a light to medium body. A good Oktoberfest bier. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2007 From a 12-oz. bottle--Poured a light to medium amber body, clear with some hues of orange in there. A medium-sized frothing white top and a nose of sweet, roasted malts and a mild spicy hoppiness. Finished clean with residual sweetness and maltiness. Grassy with a slight Pilsner touch to it. Very drinkable! JAF737300 (792), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 25, 2007 The beer pours mid range amber with notes of spice and hops. The mid to light body gives a very muted note of malt and hops with a very light finish. merlin48 (511), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Green bottle pours a clear orange amber body with a modest white head. Spicy and floral hop aroma with a hint of wet cardboard. Light body feels somewhat watery. Toasty caramel malt and spicy hops taste. Not my favorite German fest bier. uglyblond1 (174), Nebraska, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 23, 2007 On tap. Copper amber color. Light roasted malt aroma. Very Smooth, a toasty malt flavor, and German hops. Not too sweet and very balanced. Very drinkable with smooth finish with a little bite of hops, but never overly aggressive. Good beer! Looks real good in a dimple mug....really easy drinking - better than Paulaner’s version for my palate. yankeefan21 (82), USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Bottle: Smells skunky and off-putting. Pour is highly carbonated with a finger high head. The taste is malt and molasses. It was an okay beer, but I can’t get that skunky smell out of my taste buds.
