blindeyedbetty (148), Arlington, Virginia, USA Sep 9, 2007 12 oz. bottle, poured a clear copper colorwith tight head. Aroma of malty wet dog. Not sure why that is, but it’s not a very pleasant aroma. Malty taste with bready middle and light, crisp hoppy finish. Palate is substantial for a lager without being too heavy. This would be a great beer with some of the heavier flavored foods of the fall, beef, garlic mashed potatoes or even a caesar salad. This beer can hold it’s own without overpowering the taste of a more robust and flavorful food. yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Sep 9, 2007 Light brown with little yellow arange glow. Airy head, small, retains. Sweet malt and pine aroma. Light warm orange like they sat in the sun on the tree. Woody but maybe not pine.Nice spice and malt taste. Little clove and allspice, some cinnimon hints. Some hop bitterness lingers. Smooth, quick, mouthfeel not much, goes down fast. Some alcohol on taste and tastes ike fall in a glass (J). fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2007 split a pitcher with some friends but kinda had to chug it being as i had t be somewhere else. looked great in the glass, nice big white head on top of amber beer. sweet caramel and malt, crisp hops finish but with some kind of a spice or herb. wish i could have really enjoyed it. Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA Sep 8, 2007 Spaten makes some pretty badass brews, this one is no exception. Hazy pour, malty, surprisingly easy to drink. Maybe my favorite okt. scottyw (46), Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA Sep 5, 2007 The sum is not quite equal to the parts. The aroma and taste is good, but something is just lacking. Very flat. Vav (13), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2007 I’d call this one average across the board. Average taste especially...not too spicy nor dull. Slightly skunky nose. mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Sep 4, 2007 Poured a nice orange/amber color with a decent white foam head. The nose was sweet with nutty malts as well as a light citric hop twang. The taste started with some sweet caramel and nutty notes with a distinct fruitiness throughout. The finish was dry and had a good spicy/citric hop presence. This was a pretty decent autumn beer. It wasn’t exciting in any way, but worth a try. sneezey (110), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA Sep 2, 2007 Yet another good Spaten product - solid malty flavor comes through with little else around it. Miss a bit of the Bavarian character others have, but still entirely respectable beer.
