Odyn (205), New York, USA Sep 29, 2009 Copper color with a malty aroma. Complex rich flavors that echo the aroma. Sweet, but not in a caramelly/toffee way like so many other Octoberfests. Well balanced and fairly light, though the richness would not make this one for all day drinking. Finishes cleanly. You can almost taste the pretzels......... Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Sep 29, 2009 Sampled at Lundeen’s Brew Ha-Ha 2009. Pours a deep orange color with a very spare off-white head. Aroma has a bready character with some caramel malt notes, toffee sweetness, grassy, flowery and herbal hops note. Flavor has an apple and grape sweetness, a strong hay note and a metalic ending. Body was good but the texture was very thin with a lively carbonation. Just not too good and a bit disappointed in a "true" German oktoberfest beer. rman18 (200), South Amboy, New Jersey, USA Sep 27, 2009 An average octoberfest... Caramel notes with a little toffee... Very bitter finish with an average palate. Just average, I have had better octoberfests. SuIIy (1405), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Sep 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber/brown color with a miniscule off white head. Nose is light nutty roast and sweet malts and a hint of dirt. Palate is full and clean. Flavor is nutty, dirty, malty but clean and crisp and kinda nice. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 24, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a small beige head. The aroma was lightly sweet, tangy and malty with a touch of pear. The flavor was light caramel, tangy and malty with notes of ripe cherries and pears. The finish was medium length fruity caramel. Rather enjoyable. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Sep 24, 2009 1 of my fave Lagers: Very malty and soulful -with a cool spicy ,buttery texture. Sinkable ,flavoursome Marzen. neepsntatties (281), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 21, 2009 I’ve had this countless times and not rated it, so it’s high time I rated it! Colour... orange-amber. Nose... sweet malt and an even balance of hops. Palate... plenty of C02, lightly chewy, nicely balanced between the roasty malt and hops, though not especially complex. I Like it on tap much better than the bottle. triguy84 (54), Fitchburg, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2009 Color: Dark reddish gold, clear, thin white head that lasts. Aroma: lager with hints of malt. Flavor: moderate malt sweetness, distinct lager. Light bodies, not hop bitterness. Not a big fan of this style, but I am trying them to better understand.
