No real lacing to speak of. The aroma was a mix of sweet malt, some hops and a bit of brown sugar/caramel. If there is any spice, it’s not much. The flavor was a less hoppy version of the Spaten Premium. They ramped up the sweetness and backed off the hops. Not in the same class with the Optimator and I think given the chance I’d just as soon drink the Premium. OldBoss (27), Tuttle, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 13, 2007 On tap at TapWerks in OKC. Pours copper with very little head. The beer lines had obviously not been cleaned in a while, because there was a sourness and sharp bite to this beer. Tapwerks needs to clean up their act - - - AND their beer lines. They’ve ruined what is a very nice beer. glennmastrange (846), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Bottle. A nice nutty malt smell with notes of molasses/sugar. Taste is slightly sweet with a decent finish. The head lasted about 10 seconds, but the carbonation was perfect for this beer. LyndaNova (493), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Bottle. Poured an amber color. Smell from pouring reminds me of Peroni due to slight skunk smell. First taste has a malt flavor. after i swallowed i could taste the hops. I liked that aspect of it. First impression, not too great. Final impression, this is a good beer. anaheim1983 (111), Anaheim, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2007 The beer is a copper amber color, very clear, producing an inch of white foam only because of an aggressive pour. Despite that, no lacing at all. Faint caramel malt in the aroma.
A smooth taste, with some caramel malt and a little breadiness, but nothing overly compelling. The finish is a little drier with a hint of floral hops. No aftertaste to speak of. Medium body, okay carbonation.
An okay beer, true to the style, (after all, it defined the style, right?) but ultimately too mild for me.
