RCL (1444), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 16, 2006 Perhaps someone could tell me why the hell they would take a nice German Oktoberfest and put it in the awful green bottles. Smell and taste are light-struck/skunky, but it seems less offensive than in most lighter beers. Flavors of straw and caramel, but mostly skunk. Thin mouthfeel. Very disappointing following the Hacker-Pschorr. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Oct 15, 2006 Updated: Nov 26, 2006Single botttle from Trader Joe’s for $0.84: Deep clear amber color with a medium white fading head. Aroma is sweet and lightly grassy. Flavor starts light honey sweet with some hop spice finishing lightly dry and bitter. Medium bodied and smooth with lively carbonation. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Oct 13, 2006 Draught. Clear golden colour with a large longlasting white head. Malty grassy, slightly bready aroma. Sweet malty grassy flavor with some bready hints. Malty bitter aftertaste. VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Oct 13, 2006 Draft - Poured a dark reddish amber in color with a small whitsh head. Relatively low carbonation. Beer was a bit too cold, but aroma was malty with some fruity hops mixed in. Flavor was of caramel, lightly roasted malts and medium hops. Easy drinking... not bad. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 12, 2006 On tap and the winking lizard cleveland: Orange gold color with a small white head. Aroma caramel, grassy hops, some spice to it as well, a bit of yeast. Flavor, caramel, some bitterness, yesty, and on the dry side. Some lingering bitterness on the finish. swanmann (304), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Oct 12, 2006 Poured a rich, clear amber brown with substantial pale tan head (vigorous pour). Sweet aroma of mild hops, cloves, and bright wood of some sort. Palate is bright, dry, and yeasty, with hops and fruits way up front. Delicious, although palate and carbonation seem a little off. Lighter than I expected. hayduke (1621), Eureka, California, USA Oct 11, 2006 Bottle. Nice amber to gold with clean white head. Good lacing. Big nose of malts with some fruit. Nice on the tongue, and smooth flavor of hops. Excellent balance. Nice finish. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Oct 10, 2006 On tap at the Winking Lizard in downtown Cleveland - Pours amber with a big offwhite head that stays quite well and laces the sides of the glass. Aromas of smooth caramel malts, and light toffee as well as some light orange. Flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma. Smooth creamy palate makes this a pretty nice Oktoberfest brew..
