Kpfeifle (13), Patchogue, New York, USA Sep 22, 2006 Nice dark amber color. Quite a bit of malt and a light molassas flavor. Nice example of the type. starfireming (309), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 21, 2006 Rosy amber colour, medium creamy head. Hoppy scent, nice palate, intense bitter malt flavour. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA Sep 21, 2006 Draft - malty aroma, as it should be. A beautiful looking beer. Burnt orange to amber body with a full two fingers worth of creamy beige foam. Flavor is also malty and sweet. A nice Oktoberfest. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Sep 21, 2006 Pours walnut into the glass, deep brown with a non-retentive head and sudsy lacing. The nose is sourdough and earth. Roasted malts upfront, a bit dry by the hop back. Flavors seem well-integrated, and complement one another quite well. Finish contains remnants of nut skins, bean/legumes, and sour grains. The mouthfeel is slick and round. Complexities aren’t outstanding, but every aspect works well. Good brew... great for a session. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 20, 2006 Clear dark amber body with a large creamy off-white head. Sweet molassas and dark malt aroma. Sweet dark malt flavor, a hint of caramel and molassas and a touch of spice. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Sep 17, 2006 I was a nervous with the green bottle but the beer is good. Light malty aroma with some nuts as well. A light orange beer; initially large head that fades to a thin lace on top of the beer. Flavor is sweet and malty, with light hops that go well with the malt rather than overpower them. This beer is on the heavy side for the palate, and significantly better than many American attempts at this style. MoreHead (355), Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA Sep 17, 2006 tried this one at old chicago in their octoberfest tour. minimal head and lacing, mainly a malt aroma and taste. enjoyable but not loveable. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Sep 12, 2006 From a 12 oz. green bottle with no freshness date, but I know this is the fall ’06 release.
Poured a clear amber with a foamy white head with good retention, slowly settled into a thin lacing, minimal amount of sticking.
Clean aromas of toasted grain, sweet malts with a little fruitiness and spicy hops.
Moderate carbonation and a crisp, slick and smooth light-medium bodied mouthfeel.
A nice Oktoberfest taste, toasted grain with a little huskiness, a subtle fruitiness, herbal spicy hops that are very mild, a little malty sugariness in the middle and a grainy and sweet malty finish.
Not a great, but a bad Oktoberfest beer, tasty enough, good quaffability, a seasonal well worth trying.
