fatguys (65), Wisconsin, USA Aug 9, 2006 I was surprised by how dark this poured; I expected a lighter beer. A nice head and healthy lacing give way to a very drinkable and enjoyable brew. I could drink many of these and never tire of the flavor.
This beer is very well balanced. The roasted hops perfectly accent a subtle hops undertone. There’s a hint of caramel here as well.
I would love to try this on tap in Germany. loseratheart (110), USA Jul 30, 2006 amber in color, lighter in body than what I had expected. Nice crisp taste to it (along with some spice). Goes down smooth and overall enjoyable. Decent amount of lacing and head. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Jul 29, 2006 Pour is a tea brown with a big white head. Aroma is slightly malty with some breadness in there. Nothing really stands out. Flavor is some caramel and banana. Again nothing really overpowers. I’ll admit i am trying this is July and this bottle is probably from last Sept, and its is a damn green bottle so this could be better fresh. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2006 bottle. Aroma: Light aroma overall. Toasted malt and maybe a touch of hop spiciness. Appearance: Light amber in color bordering on dark orange. Head was off-white and abundant. Head dissipaed quickly, though. Surprisingly good lacing. Flavor: Malt sweetness upfront, with a hint of toastiness. Hoppiness (both flavor and bitterness) is light. Some spice and floral flavors from hops. Nice clean finish. Palate: Medium bodied, with slight creaminess. Moderate carbonation. Overall: A nice, easy to drink beer. Was expecting a little more punch from flavor and aroma. Quillaraymi (88), USA Jul 18, 2006 Dulce y con sabor a caramelo. Perfecta para refrescarse y para acompanar un piqueito. Se ve preciosa a la vista y no embota pero el sabor del caramelo se puede hacer pesado. Con una basta ;) jrohn92 (105), USA Jul 16, 2006 This has an amber body and roathy head of foam. The flavor of this beer is just not my taste..It would probably be better on tap. jedadiahcombs (41), Huntington, West Virginia, USA Jul 8, 2006 Rich and deep amber pour. Plenty of spicy hop aroma. Great session beer for the occasional Munchen moment. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jun 28, 2006 Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Grainy malt aromas, along with some herbal German hops. A bit of caramel in the mouth which is balanced out by both a herbal and spicy hop presence. Medium bodied with a short clean finish. I never really got the typical strong malt, bready, roasted malt Oktoberfest punch, but this is a very mellow and drinkable beer. More like a generic (yet well made) amber lager than an Oktoberfest.
