Aromas are a little on the skunky side (think Becks) but not unsettling. Flavor is malt heavy and thin, at the same time. The caramel and bready malt dominates the palate with the hops picking up the finish with a slightly skunky and bitter note. Not bad, but a little thinner than my tastes would dictate. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2004 Bottle Pours a clear dark amber with a nice thnick off-white head. Aroma is of pale grain and malt. Almost pilsner-like. Some sweet bready notes as well. Flavor is reminecent of wheat toast with butter and honey. Malty and modest hops are here too. Carbonation is fairly lively with a clean thin feel. Trailer is a soft grain and slightly metallic taste. Not as dark and robust as other Oktoberfest beers but very enh\joyable and pleasant. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2008 On tap at the Biergarten Restaurant in Epcot, Disney World. A dark amber with a decent sized white head in the huge 1L mug it was served in. At first, tasted very similar to Optimator, with the dark roasted, bready malt flavor coming through. As it warmed, it got a little fruitier and the sweet malt came out. A good beer, but maybe not one I’d return to anytime soon. yobdoog (1543), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Sweet malt and pine aroma. Light warm orange like they sat in the sun on the tree. Woody but maybe not pine.Nice spice and malt taste. Little clove and allspice, some cinnimon hints. Some hop bitterness lingers. Smooth, quick, mouthfeel not much, goes down fast. Some alcohol on taste and tastes ike fall in a glass (J). Swalden28 (1535), McKinney, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2008 Pours a clear dark amber with a medium thick creamy frothy off-white head. Lovely lightly toasted malt, sweet caramel, a bit spicy, some nuts, and a generous amount of noble hops in the aroma. This beer doesn’t let you forget that it is German or a lager at any point. Flavor is similar to aroma, med/light caramel toasty malt, slightly rich and nutty/vinous, with noble hops playing off ever so "German." At 5.9% the alcohol plays a small part in the flavor however just enough to know that you’re drinking a "strong" beer. Nice medium body, silky carbonation. jasonp (1514), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Subtle yet classic aroma of bread, toasted grains and earthy noble hops. Flavor starts with rich malty toasty caramel, a little brown sugar and hay/grassy herbal hops. Starts rich and malty and ends with a punch of balancing hop bitterness. Very well-balanced. Medium bodied with a creamy texture and satisfying, lively carbonation. Excellent. I don’t know what else you can ask for in a Marzen.
