COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Amber in color. This medium bodied beer has achieved its impeccable taste by balancing the roasted malt flavor with the perfect amount of hops. Having a rich textured palate with an underlying sweetness true to tradition.

Amber with a nice two finger standing head. Aroma is of wonderful full malt. Taste is sweet with a bit of emphasis on the hops in the finish. I detect no roasted character.

Poured a finger of head on a clear, dark straw colored body. Low head retention. The aroma is a mild grain and barnyard, though what’s there is nice. Nice flavor: mild malt sweetness, a little woody and mild bitter finish. The texture is crisp with fizzy carbonation. A fine enough drink.

Bottle from Fresh Market. Copper pour with thin off-white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is roasted bready malts. Tastes are caramel, floral, toast, light lemon, pear. Been way too long since I’ve had others in the style, but generally speaking not my thing.

Pours a dull, slightly hazy copper with a foamy, antique white head. The head retains well. Light caramel malt aroma. Excellently balanced mouthfeel. Butterscotch and caramel balanced with the faintest grassy hop. Just a lovely Oktoberfest. I was lucky enough to find a place who shelves it 365 days a year.

Amber brown color with clean white head. No lacing. Medium roasted sweet malt smell. The roasted malts are sweet and taste fruity. Hops in the background finish each sip with mild bitterness.

A - Pours a clear chestnut brown. A pretty color but the lackluster head starts small and melts into several inverted circle wisps. S - Musty bready malt. Caramel malt, muted cherries, sweet husky grain, and almond notes. T - Kind of an old wet grain, dark fruit, sweet malt, and amaretto. A weird thin caramel malt rides heavy and holds steady throughout the finish. Moderate carbonation adds a welcomed bite to balance out the malt. Hints of lemon towards the finish as well as the aftertaste. The green bottle obviously adds a lot of the characteristics of this beer. The nutty malt is good but a little strange. Slight lemongrass notes come out on the finish. Not what I expected. Not what I expect out of the style. I wouldn’t seek this one out. Serving type: bottle 10-15-2010

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/4/2012. Pours lightly cloudy orange copper color with a nice 2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, pear, apple, biscuit, toast, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt and fruity notes. Taste of caramel, pear, apple, biscuit, toast, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, biscuit, toast, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice balance of malt and fruity ester flavors; with good complexity and robustness of all flavors; and zero cloying sweetness present on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and very smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Oktoberfest style. Very well balanced between malt and fruity flavors; and extremely smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

It’s very much on the lighter end of the spectrum of Oktoberfests that I, personally, am used to. It smells of a strong, heavy lager and tastes of a slightly chewy lager, with soft, muddy malt notes and a clean, enjoyable lager finish. The maltiness balances out the lager characteristics very well and makes for an easy to drink Oktoberfest that’s light and low on residual sugars and caramel malts. It finishes with a quality much like candied peat, spicing up an otherwise light-palated beer.

This was the marzen version export not what you will get at Octoberfest. Spartan has, in my opinion, best pils Octoberfest beer at Octoberfest. This spatan was decent but disappointed me because I lived in Germany and the Octoberfest pils was a catch even In Germany. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pilsnery smell... taste is bitter with not many other flavors... fairly refreshing but not great...
