Amber with a nice two finger standing head. Aroma is of wonderful full malt. Taste is sweet with a bit of emphasis on the hops in the finish. I detect no roasted character.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2015 This beer drinks very easy. Smooth light crisp palate. Goes down quick and easy. Brown copper color. Not my favorite look for a brew not not off putting. Aroma is mild and forgettable with a almost musky quality. Solid simple flavor. Better as it comes to room temp. Nothing overly special all in all, but satisfying. I would drink this again.

We have only tried this at a small tavern in Mt Angel, OR, home of the Oktoberfest. The tavern we originally tried it at is closed now and in it?s place is the tavern/eatery called the Drunken German. Not as good as the Optimator but I would never turn it down.

One of the few beers that I will drink more than 1 of at a time. Beautiful malty-sweet aroma and taste. Medium brown color, crystal clear and just tasty. Every year I look forward to when the local grocery store starts to carry this beer and then the yearly german culture picnic at the park which serves this on tap. When the last bottle is taken from the fridge towards the end of December it is a moment of ceremony for us.
