Good balanced flavors, and a nice kick. Hope to someday make it to Munich for Oktoberfest and get it at the Brauhaus. fishonmyplane (128), Newington, Connecticut, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2003 Had this back to back with Sam Adams Octoberfest to compare the two. This had a richer palate than the Sam Adams. It was also a little lighter in color, but not too light. Thin head. Overall it's slightly better than the Sam, but I still didn't think there were enough hops; I guess I'm just not a fan of this style of beer. SDbruboy (1833), San Diego, California, USA

Sweet malty nose with apricot, cinnamon and floral hops. Toasty malt flavor with apple, spice cake and a lingering hop finish. Medium body, creamy carbonation. Nice autumn offering from Spaten. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2005 Great beer. Poured a deep amber in color with a decent off-white head. Malty nose, solid roasted malt flavor with a definite sweetness up front followed up by a mild hoppiness in the aftertaste. Very well balanced, medium in body and smooth. Excellent. wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2003 12 oz bottle, lager mug, 50 degrees. Gigantic, tan, creamy, frothy off white head diminishes slowly. They body is an amber to brown-orange color and is crystal clear with moderate carbonation. Caramel, cookie malt (mod); flowery hops (light); apple and pear aromas. Incredibly clean and smooth tasting compared to the Sam Adams I had earlier. Moderately sweet throughout with a lightly bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Filling for an Oktoberfest. The bottom line is: a great malty lager that's readily available. willblake (2193), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Hard to judge color because of opaque mug, but has a lasting, even head of medium-sized, white bubbles. Aroma is not as bold as I expect in a marzen, rather subtle, toasty, peppery, lightly floral. It’s a mild flavor, too, and not as dry as I’d hoped. Light pretzel, touches of peppery lager yeastiness. Smooth feeling, medium body is coating across the middle, but dry to finish. I’m glad I got a tap version rather than a bottle as there was no evidence of damaging oxidation. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA

1 year later...I did enjoy it a little bit better this year. Especially on Oktoberfest day when I got a free glass and t-shirt. So I will up the overall impression a bit.
