A very pretty beer. Copper body with an off-white head that quickly dissipated. Nice lacing on the glass, though. Bit of a toasted and floral aroma. I can barely taste the toasted malts or the hop characteristics. A bit thin and watery. I’m not impressed. Might do well with the Millcooweiser folks.

Maybe i had a bad bottle because it was skunky. First had this on tap. Would not reccomend it served any other way.

Beer: Spaten Octoberfest
Color: Light Brown
Taste: Smooth, caramel malt flavor, dry
Comments: Ur Märzen is probably one of my favorite styles of beer. Spaten tends to always make quality beer and this is one of them. However, it does lack a little something. It's no Spaten Optimator and far from the one for which all others are judged Mittenwald Brewery Ur Märzen.

P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, rich finish.
O- A solid marzen, although I don’t notice any sweetness in it.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not your average Munich Marzen. Features a Exceptionally dark amber color for an Oktoberfest beer, with a standard malty aroma. I found the taste to be enjoyably more complex for a marzen, with roasted malt notes, slight herbal hoppy contrast, and a sweet finish and aftertaste.
Smooth enough, medium bodied.

Decent example of an authentic German style marzen. Light colored but with strong caramel flavors.

Bottle. Crystal clear amber with a white head. Aroma of malt, toast, bread, some caramel and light vegetal hint. Sweetish flavor, malty, toasty, with a bit of caramel, bready notes and a drier finish with a light bitter herbal note. Medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
The Paulaner and the Ayinger Oktoberfests are indistinguishable. This beer has a more pronounced toasty caramel flavor and a diminished carbonation bite.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lager yeast, lightly sweet malt, and skunky aroma. Sugary sweet malt flavor, green apple-ish fruit, lager yeast. Some skunked flavor (less than the aroma).
Definitely need to rate this again--especially if it’s not in a green bottle.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
By far my favorite Oktoberfest. Pours a beautiful clear dark amber. Rich caramel and toasted malts. Nicely balanced.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours amber with a off white head. Taste carmel malt, sweet. I thought this was pretty good. I would drink this again.
