COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the German version of the beer, described by Jackson in the 2000 Pocket Beer Book as "much paler (than Oktoberfest-Marzen in the US), golden, albeit still with a creamy aroma and pleasant malt accent."

ALLOVATE (1536) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - FEB 6, 2012
Bottle @ Spatenhaus an der oper, Munich, Germany.
Bright sunny gold with sparse, intermittent carbonation. Two fingered rocky white crown that is lasting and leaves lot of mess upon the glass in its wake. Strong malt aroma: dusty, biscuity with hints of fresh baked warm white bread and fresh cracked grains with a lightly peppery edge. Quite sweet in the mouth, generously malty with a big Munich malt presence. Peppery in back, lots of toasted grains with just a touch of tangy sourness prior to a subtley hoppy swallow that had residual sweetness to it. Body is quite light, but it is creamy in mouthfeel and crisp in tail, very clean and straightforward. Gets heavy as it warms, so down it goes whilst chilled. Not bad, but not the most sessionable Märzen.

On draught at NWAF, 2012. Gold pour with a white head. Fruity-malt nose with a hint of pear and banana. Fruit filled flavour with a light malt presence. Dry, fruity finish.

50cl bottle, 0.75€, 5.9%. Pale golden with a big white head, fair lacing. Sharp wet malts and spices. Balanced bitter-sweet taste, lasting bitterness. Oily texture, sticky lips. Medium bodied, dense, lively carbonation. Nothing more to say, expected something better, looks like a powered lager. Other Oktoberfest marzen are a lot smoother. Perfect to get a quick booze inexpensively, otherwise average.
