COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the German version of the beer, described by Jackson in the 2000 Pocket Beer Book as "much paler (than Oktoberfest-Marzen in the US), golden, albeit still with a creamy aroma and pleasant malt accent."

Golden colour, medium thin head which soon went but some lacing was retained, clear. Aroma was hay, straw, with notes of caramel and red cabbage. Tasted caramel and red cabbage, was quite peppery, finish was bitter and wheaty, seemed to switch between sweet and bitter but more bitterness than normal for an Oktoberfest beer. Was well carbonated, crisp and smooth enough. Easy to identify as an Oktoberfest beer, decent but not the best.

(Spaten Oktoberfestbier) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a glass tankard, ABV 5.9% Crystal clear body, pale golden yellow in colour. Small white head sitting on top, average retention, heavy lacing on the glass. Not much on the aroma, faint to start with, it has some light malts and straw. Taste is more intense though, again malts, begins with a mild sweetness but it develops a good bitterness on the aftertaste, albeit with a short duration. Straw, grass, light lemony touches that make it taste like a fizzy wine every now and then. Refreshing. Thin body, good carbonation. Quite dry on the palate. Begins a bit disappointing to be honest but after a while it makes up for it. Good.

Fresh and crispy märzen containing no off flavors. Almost like a regular lager.

Off white fine head, clear straw golden body, rare lacings. Aroma; pale malts, grains. Taste; pale caramel malts, hops, grains, herbal oils, hints of lemon, and hops blended with grains in the finish. Normal on palate, medium carbonation. Body enough as märzen, very modest spices. [50cl brown bottle, abv5.9%, 13.6°, B@Alko Kemi for 4€, BB21072015, T@höme]

Aroma is malty with hints of hay / grass and metal. Pours golden with a fading foam that laces beautifully. Taste has bread and maltiness, quite a lot of sweetness and herbal hops. Reminds me of pils. Full body with average carbonation. Sweet and a bit bitter finish.

Poured from bottle, clear gold with thin head. Aroma mild with notes of hay/grass and slightly of metal. Taste is mild and with notes of light toast, grass and herbs. Slight bitterness in the finish. More "normal" pils than oktober beer.

I did not think that it had a strong distinct "octoberfest" flavor. A little malty and acidic. Not to harsh and easy to drink. There are much better oktoberfests.

500ml bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Clear golden pour with fast diminishing head. A malty start with a sweet Helles finish. OK.
