COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the German version of the beer, described by Jackson in the 2000 Pocket Beer Book as "much paler (than Oktoberfest-Marzen in the US), golden, albeit still with a creamy aroma and pleasant malt accent."

2007 bottles from Costco -- Green glass, but inside cardboard container, so no light issues. This beer has the expected qualities of an Oktoberfest: big and relatively complex malt flavors (bread, Munich malt fruit), full body, and wonderful color. The main detractor was the significant sulfur component that made the aroma undesirable and slightly vegetal-like. Sulfur is not uncommon in lagers, but it still detracts. Overall, a good beer and not too disappointing.

50CL bottle at home, light yellow/golden beer with a small head, aroma is malts, taste is sweet, malty, hint of bitterness, a bit too sweet for me, but not bad.

Poured from bottle, clear gold with thin head. Aroma mild with notes of hay/grass and slightly of metal. Taste is mild and with notes of light toast, grass and herbs. Slight bitterness in the finish. More "normal" pils than oktober beer.

I did not think that it had a strong distinct "octoberfest" flavor. A little malty and acidic. Not to harsh and easy to drink. There are much better oktoberfests.

500ml bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Clear golden pour with fast diminishing head. A malty start with a sweet Helles finish. OK.

50cl bottle shared. Pours pale golden with one finger of white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is sweet malts and light vegetal notes of german hops. Taste is similar, quite sweet with almost no bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, light to medium carbonation.

Malty aromas, and sweet malty taste, low levels of carbonation. Finish is too sweet for me.

Bottle. Clear golden beer with a large white head. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, herbs, hay and bread. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, herbs, citrus and bread. Needs to be more malty to be a märzen.

"this was my favorite marzen for a while way back in the day...just a touch behind Paulaner and Ayinger as of now. nice balance and pretty well done, if a little underwhelming..."

Bottle; pours a clear gold with a white head; has malty aroma with hints of hops; taste is light bitter with mostly malt and a little hop; finish is slightly bitter; okay Oktoberfest
