The classic German dark beer, bottom fermented ’Doppel Bock’. Full bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor.

Supposedly only available in USA, at least not in Germany.

Had a draft of this one at Mars Cheese Castle. Black brown color. No aroma. Creamy German bock taste. Not my favorite but I don't like this style much either.

500ML served into Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass. A - Pours a dark russet copper with an active light tan head. Nice clarity. S - Thick caramel malt, brown bread crust, iron, molasses, creamy marshmallow, prunes. T - Roasted dark caramel malt, iron, molasses, vinous fruit-plums and grapes, nutty yeast, fresh ground brown bread, grainy bitterness toward the end. M - Medium carbonation, syrup-like at times, dries off on the aftertaste. A solid choice for a malty spring Dopplebock. This is widely available and priced right. Super malty and rough enough around the edges to keep it interesting. Serving type: bottle 03-09-2012

800 yen for a bottle at the Grand Front Building’s Oktoberfest in Osaka. It poured a dark brown with a slight tan head. The aroma is malty sweet with hints of caramel. The taste is sweet, malty with biscuit & oat notes. A really easy drinking doppelbock which seemed better than average to me. It was also one of the cheapest beers available at the fest!

Dark, malty and a little roasty...really good doppelbock! As another reviewer called it "very drinkable"!

Bottle. Pours brown with tan head, settles quickly with thin sheets of lacing. Aroma is malty, nutty, toffee, and plum, smells sweet. Flavor is malty, mildly roasted, nutty malt, caramel/toffee, with a fruity finish and a malty aftertaste that lingers. Soft carbonation, medium body, and smooth texture. An enjoyable, drinkable, malty beer.

A quite tasty and unique brew. Pours a beautiful thick dark red with very little head. Smells of cherries and cream. Taste is a little different, a good amount of licorice. Heavier then it looks. Kind of like Negro Modelo if it was a porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
