COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The classic German dark beer, bottom fermented ’Doppel Bock’. Full bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, opaque. Aroma is almost non existent. A little caramel and molasses. Taste is mildly sweet. Caramel, molasses, maybe even a little nutty. Not a bad beer. German beers can be pretty interesting.

Aroma is sweet, almost corn malts. Taste is similar sweet malts, but with a bit of roastiness. Bitterness is pretty mild. Overall a little disappointing with an odd mix of taste, but still very drinkable.

The Optimator is really a great beer and at a great price. The hints of nuttiness, lots of malt, and brown sugar flavors are great. This beer is actually really sweet tasting when drunk with food. Great beer!!

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, a little bit of nuts, and some toffee. Flavor about the same. Has an average texture. A pretty good dopplebock.

Let me first say, for the money, this is probably the best imported German Doppel Bock you can get. with that said, it is not the best beer in that category. However, it is quite enjoyable. malty nose with some kind of fruity notes(grape, raisin, plum) I can’t really place it. Very thin/to non-existent off-white rimming head, but a nice tawny brown(as per style); flavor drops at first, but feels smooth and silky on the tongue but finishes with a fizzy zing and a strong flavor in the finish balanced between the sweet malt/fruit(as in the aroma) but a note of some hop bite flavor.

Rich malty nose and taste to match. Pours dark brown with a thin head. Very rich malty flavor. Hops are deeply buried. Somewhat "salty" finish? I enjoyed it a lot.

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, & some spice; Flavor of roasted malt, caramel, and coffee; Slight alcohol at the finish; Nicely balanced; Overall, the aroma was lacking - but the flavor was good.
