Multiple bottles consumed from my gigantic Spaten beer mug. Just a consistently good German beer here, nice red brown pour with a fluffy tan head. Very sweet on the palate with a nice mild caramel malt profile and some nice roastiness to it as well. Nice dry finish, very tasty brew.

Bottle. This beer never disapoints. Pours a dark reddish brown. The aroma is of sweet malt and caramel. Full bodied with roasted malt, toffee, and alcohol notes. Finish is slightly dry with mild bitterness.

Chocolatey, creamy, smooth and not too hoppy. A great looking deep red/brown pour. A very nice, drinkable bock.

Ruby pour with medium head. Great aroma of chocolate and hint of caramel, slightly bitter taste with the carbonation of alcohol. Good example of this style.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cavie (3249) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - MAR 8, 2009
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2010 Dark ruby pour, with little head. Tastes of sweet flavors with hints of chocolate. Slightly tingles over the palate, mainly due to the APV. Not bad. A drinkable doppel.4.0
RE-RATE 2/9/10 Pours dark brown with huge rouge tints. The smell is lovely. Lots of dark fruit, alcohol and rich malts. Flavor is all red grape upfront. Rich malts fill in next with a touch of bitterness. Finish is just the right mix of bitter malts, dark fruits and sweetness. Better than remembered.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 leeburg (200) - Juneau, Alaska, USA - MAR 4, 2009
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2011 Bottle at Concordia Ale House, Portland, OR. Dark brown (although bad lighting), thin beige head. Notes of nuts, bread, dark fruit, thick malts, rust. Flavorful and roasty, fairly sweet. Were it not carbonated it could be mistaken for chilled wort. But it is nicely balanced, and my opinion is strongly positive.

12oz. bottle from Trinity Liquors in Spring Hill, FL. Pours a clear dark red-brown with a small tan head. Aroma is malty, mollasses, maybe some raisins..The smell is interesting and really hard to put my finger on. Flavor is more mollasses, maybe some raw honey, raisins...again, weird, cant really figure it all out. Lighter mouthfeel, no aftertaste. This one is really odd...but pretty good and very drinkable.
