Aug 2005 - I thought this was a good, but not great dopplebock. The green bottle made me nervous, but no skunk was there. Poured deep reddish color with nice head and lacing that clung to the glass throughout my drinking endeavor. Mouthfeel was slightly carbonated, but smooth. Taste was really good, but not as full, rich or complex as Celebrator or Maximator...but not sickly sweet as some of the "low end" dopples are. Well done.

Bottle - Amber appearance with a slight red tint. Very sweet caramel flavor with a hint of cherry and spice. Very full bodied and smooth. Good from start to finish. did not detect and type of bitterness in this beer. This is one that stays in my stock when I can find it around here. VERY enjoyable beer.

Clear russet appearance with a medium size, off white head and little lacing. Sweet aroma, with dark fruit, caramel and a hint of soy sauce. Earthy, roasted malt flavor accompanied by dark fruits like plums, figs and raisins. Low keyed hop presence. Alcohol rocks the taste buds for awhile. Full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a long lasting, semi-sweet finish.

Aroma: Malt/yeast with chocolate, freshness hits me as well. Surly darkness with minimal light filtering through. Looks: Cherry darkness in direct light. Taste: The hops still has a presence with all the malt and roasted goodness going on.

Pours a dark amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, and molasses. Flavor starts off sweet with the dark fruits, caramel, and molasses then finishes with the toasted malts. Nice lingereing flavor as well on this one. Very delicious, I don’t know why I didn’t rate this sooner.
