mansquito (576), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Apr 2, 2008 Pours a brown, slightly red, clear, body with a quickly descending head that never the less leaves some lacing. Brown sugar aroma along with something that might be dried fruit. Taste has a slight bite of alcohol and is pretty sweet at that. Sweetness might come from the fruity elements in the beer. Thick palate.
soyorganic (100), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a black color with small white head. A nice beer that is lager-esque in feel but has a strong malt backbone that has coffee notes. To me this seems like it could almost get away with being called a stout. bruno1378 (106), Nashua, New Hampshire, USA Jul 17, 2008 pours a very very dark amber/brown color, no lasting head at all. great aroma, caramel, almost a bit fruity. goes down smooth. a bit soft when drinking, overall i definitely enjoy this one. a good fall beer. aenimopiate (124), The United States of Texas, Texas, USA Jul 17, 2008 I thought I would give a different doppelbock a shot, and I think I like the Celebrator better. This one has a good malty flavor, but the Celebrator just seems to be a more complete beer. This is a decent German bier that has the ability to stand on its own, but they seemed to have missed the mark a hair. If you try this one and like it, you’re bound to love Celebrator. Tweety (159), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Jul 15, 2008 A fine example of the doppelbock. Not as good as Celebrator, but very tasty nonetheless. carruthm (316), USA Jul 13, 2008 brown pour with medium head with a good malt aroma accompanied by dark sugars/caramel. Taste more mellow, mostly just malts.
