COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottom fermented pilsner style beer. Very elegant, pale in color, dry and hoppy. Its crisp clean taste is due to the extra fine Bavarian hops.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2005 Not a bad pils, but Spaten can do better, as their other brews attest. Pale yellow with an extremely short-lived fizzy head, this has light sweet malt scents covered by a faint floral hopping. It’s spritzy in the throat, which I enjoy in a beer, but delivers only mild malt tastes. The hops return on the quick finish.

This beer pour near white. White head that fades quickly. Aroma is apple with some notes of cinnamon*sp*. Crisp clean taste.... apple again... light hops. Pretty ok beer.

Surprisingly, this beer is not that easy to find, unlike Spaten Optimator. It is a crisp, herbal pilsener that’s moderately dry and plenty hoppy. Grass and pepper are evident. If you like pils, this is respectable.

Clear gold with a thin film of white head and sticky lace. Musky pilsener malts and grassy hops in the aroma. Some hints of pepper about. The same can be said for the flavor. It is a bit more musky, and there are hints of fruitiness with the grassy hops. The mouthfeel is kind of fuzzy or dusty. The body is pretty well defined and it finishes with that pilsener malt presence. Fair pils.

This is undoubtedly the greatest mass produced pilsner around. It touches the palate like a sweet angel of flavor sent from Munchen. God bless you Spaten.

Nothing real noticeable here, which is normal for a mass market pilsner. Drinkable in mass quantities.

Not much in the looks department, but a very nice and light brew. Good brew for a session or just relaxing.

not a bad pils at all, all the right things going on, just lacking memorability, ambition, adventurousness of any sort - you get the feeling these guys sometimes confuse complacency with tradition. when i say "these guys" i mean germany in general. anyway it’s perfectly drinkable. on the soft, malty side of things, which combined with a bit of diacetyl gives it a czech feel. but the hops are all minty, sagey hallertau, leafy and mild and gently drying. maybe lacking a bit of crispness and acidity to be really moreish.
