yesyouam (347), Fairport, New York, USA Jul 8, 2008 Spaten Pils is a clear golden lager with a film of a white head. Soft fruit and wood are in the aroma. It smells prickly and a touch sweet with hints of lemon. It is light bodied and a touch gritty like minerals. It is smooth, well rounded in bitterness and shows great balance in flavor. All of the aroma elements are present in the flavor, plus pretzels and cracked pepper. Very drinkable.
rkuhnel (1096), Eureka, California, USA Aug 20, 2008 Just $2.29 for the bottle.this poured a clear orange with fat white head. Nose of citrus,. Medium but smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is of mild hops and some caramel malts. Slightly bitter finish. Pretty good brew. Pawola22 (71), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 27, 2008 Party Keg 5L from John’s Grocery.
Pours a very clear golden orange with a foamy white head. The head lingers and leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Not a lot of carbonation as compared to most pils I’ve tried before. The aroma is pretty weak and smells like a light beer. Its a slightly malted lager smell even though its a pils. The flavor is very malty for a pils with no real carbonation, which is surprising. Their is a faint taste of hop and a nice flavor. Its hard to put my finger on, but I do like it. Its wet all the way through and lingers for awhile. Overall its a nice pils because its different than most I’ve tried. A nice German flair makes this a decent beer. Ceebs25 (45), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jul 27, 2008 5 liter keg can. Nothing special about the aroma, grassy weedy hops, and uninteresting pale lager malt, though still fresh. Large white bubbling foam head, some sticky lacing, very translucent, slower but plentiful carbonation, golden straw color. I like the flavor though, balance toward the straw-leafy bavarian hop variety, crisp, clean and light but not watery, above average pale malt balance. Will work for all intents and purposes this evening. woodfaery (2), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jul 26, 2008 Tried this in a German Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. Love it. Reminded me of the beers I used to drink while stationed in Wiesbaden. Great flavor, aroma, color. Overall, one of my favorite German beers that are available in the US. posikyle (163), Alabama, USA Jul 22, 2008 Eh,typical pilsener. Pours clear gold, thick head, grassy Saaz aroma, light flavor...one for summer.
