Broken is a promise...

Deceiving, double-crossing, and treacherous, Betrayal strikes a chord in the deepest shade of red. At first glance, she’s sweet and seductive, yet at the last sharp enough to curl your tongue. The allure of her dazzling caramel sweetness and scintillating aromatic hops is enchanting.

Pours deep copper with a thick off white head. Nose is spicy like rye, pine, caramel, candied fruit and some bread. The taste is high sweet and medium high bitter. The texture is soft and creamy at first but fizzy the longer it sits on the pallet. The body is heavy with a long finish. Nice.

Well balanced Inperial Red; caramel, figs and brown sugar all rounded off with a malty bitterness. Nothing extreme but quite good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I typically like reds more than this one. This one is a little too hoppy for me. It is very heavy and would make for a beer to drink slowly. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle pours a hazy brown with some thick, off white head. Nose of caramel, dusty, orange, bread dough. Sweet flavor, stale hops, cardboard, caramel, bread dough. Smooth finish is a bit of a savior. A bit past it’s time.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 1/18/13

Aroma: The nose has caramel malts, earth, some pine hops, and some toast notes as well
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark mahogany color with a red hue, a small beige head, and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly balanced, it is sweet up-front, with a big bitterness later on
Palate: It is medium-full bodied, with a chewy feel, soft carbonation, and a dry, slightly sticky finish
Overall Impression: This was some solid stuff for sure. It has a really solid nose and a nice taste as well. It leans hoppy, but it is a pretty well balanced beer. If I had to give it a style, I’d say it kind of felt like something somewhere in between an Imperial Red and an American-style Barley Wine.
