3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a muddy, earthy, river-bottom brown. The head is initially quite assertive, but scatters quickly. The aroma is big -- full of the essence of a wet pine forrest floor. This drinks with a chewy consistency, piled high with spruce and sour fruit. (#4428, 1/1/2012)

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a bomber into an English pint glass. Color is sort of a rusty reddish brown with a dense tan head that dies down but doesn’t disappear. Aroma is sweet and earthy (maybe a little brown sugar or toffee) with pine and citrusy hop notes. Flavor matches the aroma well starting off with a sweet, earthy maltiness and turning into a nice resinous hop bitterness towards the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. No lightweight, but not as heavy as you might expect for the ABV. Overall a very nice imperial red / American strong ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Yeasty woody overripe orange nose. Cloudy ochre, thin yellow head, good lacing. Woody overripe orange flavor. Peanut hulls appear at midpalate and beyond. Not as hoppy as other so-called imperial reds, but tasty and unique. I really prefer more juiciness and less rustic maltiness in an imperial red, but those who disagree should like this.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22. Thanks, Melissa! Pours a murky dark amber with ruby-brown edges and a big, surging, sudsy tan head. Nice big nutty, toasty nose with some deep fresh-cut wood notes. Grainy medium body with plenty of carb. Toast, nuts, caramel, and fresh-cut wood on the mid-palate, with a mild, sweet, brown bread finish. Nice ASA.

22oz bottle, all to myself. Poured a slightly ruby red, with brown notes, slightly off-white head. Aroma was nutty, with toasted malts, caramel notes. Flavor was a bit earthy, with notes of nuts, toasted, caramel. Pretty good, alcohol notes do shine through a bit.

Bottle from Total Wine, Tustin, CA. . Pours a dark, red, amber color with a thick head, Strong hoppy aroma with a dark hint of malt. Strong, dark hoppy flavor. Dry finish. Has an Arrogant Bastard sense to it. Hint of the alcohol. Overall, not too shabby.
