No lightweight, Big Daddy I.P.A. tips the scales with a huge hop flavor and a dry, clean finish that leaves the scene without a trace.

From beginning to end, this IPA provided ample hop diversity with an excellent transition. The eyes staring at me on the bottleneck ... weird. Anyways, even though the step-wise process from start to finish provided commendable results, the aftertaste left something to be desired. That smooth and hoppy long lasting finish was lacking ... otherwise this was all good.

This poured an unusually light golden color for an IPA. Not much head to speak of. The aroma is mainly of piney and floral hops. Pleasant mildly bitter hop flavor... a touch of the citric enters here. Medium-bodied, perhaps a bit watery. Mild bitter citric finish. Not too bad.

frylock (1135) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 23, 2004
Big citrusy hop aroma with some light caramelly malt in the background. Golden brown with a small white head. Moderatley bitter, some piney notes with some lemon and grapefruit coming through as well. Slight vegetal flavor in the finish. Not a bad IPA

Hopgeek (90) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 7, 2004
Golden hue with a thick white head. Smell is fruity, estery, piney and has a bit of citrus. Flavor is quite bitter, slight notes of diacetyl and is spicy. It is adequately hopped. Medium to full palate. Not bad, but not spectacular.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy (fine particles) golden yellow, with a average rocky lasting white head, OK lacing. Aroma, medium hoppyness with hints of resin and pine, light mealy malt presence, earthiness, and light alcohol. Body is light/medium, carbonation is soft and the finish is somewhat astringent, not the nice hop bite I come to expect from most IPAs. Flavor is average in duration, slightly acidic/bitter, some notes of citrus(lemon, tart orange) but no real backbone to this beer to keep it all together. Alright.

Hopistotle420 (1178) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 6, 2004
Light golden amber. Sticky white head, with slight lacing. Grapefruit, citrus, all hop nose. Nice malty undertones, with a big sticky, lemony, citrus, grapefruit, grass hopped up palate. Medium bodied, steady carbonation, with all hops in the finish. A refreshing, terribly quaffable IPA from San Fran.

JonR888710 (999) - Cochabamba, BOLIVIA - OCT 4, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2006 Darker, amber complexion for an IPA with some peachy, fleshy tones. Thin white ring, not much of a head, but it lasts forever. Smells strongly of sweet pine hops, peach and dark fruit malts. Taste is heavily fruity and malt based. Peach, raisins, light chocolate, lemon, dry hops, bitter roasted finish. Good tasting, crispy IPA. Original flavor that is vastly different than the rest of the California big IPA’s

Medium straw color - very clear & bubbly with a thich head. Grassy hop aroma. Crisp hops throughout, grassy with a but if grapefruity citrus. Clean, very dry finish - quite quenching.

This is a decent IPA that is a little thin on the pallete. The attack is pretty hoppy but after that it fades out a little thin. Can do better, but can do worse too.

12-oz bottle. Light golden color with a decent white head. Hazy and pretty highly carbonated. Citrusy aroma with definite notes of grapefruit. Mildly spiced; very hoppy; citrus and floral undertones in the flavor. Maybe juniper berries? Barely any aftertaste, which is strange for such a hoppy beer. Virtually no bitterness. Overall, not bad, not bad.
