No lightweight, Big Daddy I.P.A. tips the scales with a huge hop flavor and a dry, clean finish that leaves the scene without a trace.

Pretty solid as an IPA, my only request would be to add more alcohol to the next batch.

Back in 2005 this was the first IPA I ever drank. Had today for the first time since then on tap at a pizza place. Pour is gold with a small white head. Aroma smells grassy and piney. Flavor is mostly pine. Light to medium body.

Day 1 of my IPA advent calendar. Good but leaves an after taste of a cheap beer. Re-opened notes because it's losing steam. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Belo inicio com um final marcante com cor âmbar e transparente. Gostei muito e repetiria.

Bottle sampled at home from backlog notes. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, citrus, bready malts, some resin, good combo of malt and hops, not the most bitter but decent enough to be a sessionable ipa.

In another state, Big Daddy IPA could be a cult favorite. In California it happens to be a great IPA from a place that’s known for making amazing, near-flawless hoppy ales. It would be easy to overlook this offering from Speakeasy. However, Big Daddy deserves recognition. It has a woodsy, resinous, and slightly grassy smell with spicy, earthy tones in the flavor. Remarkably balanced, Big Daddy has a strong enough malt presence to take the edge off the hop bitterness and give this beer a clean finish.

Average IPA with grassy resiny hop profile. Lightly malted and quite bitter with very little hop flavor. Overall very average.

glass at kite/key with William. First time trying this on tap, pours hazy golden color with a nice 3 finger white head. Aromas and flavor of grass, herbal, pine, grapefruit, toasty malt , and caramel sweetness. Pretty average IPA.

DATE REVIEWED: May 15, 2014... GLASSWARE: Howard’s Pub pint... OCCASION: unwinding with Napoleon Dynamite... APPEARANCE: bright orange amber body that provides steady effervescence; thick, frothy white head that remains--nice cirrus lacing... AROMA: beautifully fragrant floral pine, with some citric flair--a nicely balanced bouquet... PALATE: thick, full-bodied, mouth-filling impact; unlike the bottle’s label, this beer doesn’t "leave without a trace," staying well into the next sip--and this is a welcome layover!...TASTE: a flourish of pine cone that that balances nicely with caramel malts; sweet and strong...OVERALLL: a hit with my poker game friends, this beer demands attention--a BIG West Coast IPA, crunchy and worthy of long, slow sips....
