3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (7031) - Toronto, Ontario, - NOV 11, 2012On tap at The Cannery. Its the way they make the style, a very good aroma of hops and roast Black with a big head and lots of lace. The taste does not deliver, its muted, but it is a smooth mouthfeel.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DuffMan (5187) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle, shared with Parksy and Smitty. Dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is sweet dark malts and slightly floral hops. On the palate, there is a fairly equal balance between dark chocolate malt and piney hops with a perfumey undertone. Medium bodied for such a high ABV. The hops draw out the bitter finish nicely. Solid.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3859) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - APR 21, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, caramel, roast, light dust, espresso, and pine. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a three finger beige head with great retention and leaves behind a lot of soapy webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, caramel, and a touch of vanilla. The finish has moderate roast, pine, espresso, dust, and a touch of burnt notes. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, another Black IPA that just makes me think hoppy Porter...not that that is a bad thing. I found this quite tasty.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oscbert (888) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 19, 2013
-Roasty chocolaty malt aroma with healthy dose of piney, resinous, earthy, and citrus hops
-pours a very dark brown with ruby highlights. Long lasting creamy off white head
-strong roasty character, burnt in flavor with earthy resinous hop character
-Medium bodied with medium co2, some warmth from alcohol burnt, roasty finish
-enjoyable beer. A bit too roasty in flavor. Unbalanced flavor, but still a fun beer to drink.

Location: Draft at Ginger Man (NYC), 1/19/13
Aroma: The nose is fairly balanced mix of roasted dark malts and pine/citrus hops
Appearance: It has a brown pour with a thick, frothy, lasting beige head atop it
Flavor: The taste s much like the nose, roasty and malty, with a nice pine hop presence too
Palate: The body is medium, it has a rather creamy feel, with a soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression:
I thought this was a very solid example of a Black IPA. It hits a nice balance between the roasted and hop flavors that one would expect in the style. Good stuff.
Roast and hops...
Creamy....7/4/7/4/15

Dark black pour from bomber to glass. Hoppy and malty. Chocolate smell and taste more of a stout than IPA. Very good beer
