3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
651 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained white head, with extensive lacing, over a clear dark amber (SRM 15) body....nose is heavy pine, resin, grapefruit peel from the hops, hints of toffee/caramel and light toast from the malts, no esters....taste is light toffee/caramel, cereal from the malts, pine, resin, hints of licorice, pineapple from the hops, leading into a strong bitter finish....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth present, moderate acid finish. This is obviously an American I/DIPA. The hops are utterly American and almost totally dominant. There are minimal hop floral tones or other subtle hop additions with the malts barely able to balance them. While it meets the style, perhaps a more complex hop backbone and more assertive malts would make it less of an "old style Left Coast" confection and a more up to date beer. BJCP 7/3/14/4/6

Pours a darkish gold with a foamy, off white head and lacing. It has a lots of resin and a bit of citrus and tropical fruit. The flavor is bitter resin up front with a syrupy, malty finish over a heavy body.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A double IPA for fortnight and a day #9...Pours out an orange copper with a whipped egg white head and great, busy lacing. Has a nice touch of apricot underneath an overwhelming aroma of a Weird piece of gum? Taste is just like a vague sweet simple syrup with some vague hops and decent piney flavor underneath. Can’t help but taste some solvency as the aroma is permeating the taste. Mouthfeel is soft in carbonation but really sticky. This is pretty poor. I don’t know if my tastes have changed a lot doing all these XXIPAs but not good.

I wasn’t all that impressed with this double. I think there’s a bit too much malt and sour, fruity yeast in the flavors. Sure, there’s enough hops in this beer, but the back-end of the flavors and the aftertaste really turn me off. Double Daddy pours an amber color with a thick and rich beige head. The nose hints at the impending downfall, with too much caramel, sweet malt and yeast notes.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is big hops, citrus, pine and malty. Amber color with slight haze, foamy 2 finger head, dies down to a half finger. Taste is bitter, lots of hops, also lots of malts, orange, nettles, pepper, citrus, toffee. Long hop bitter finish, dank. Not a total palate wrecker but it is up there.
