Pours copper/orange with no head. Mildly hoppy aroma of pine. Flavor is slightly sweet, simple. Hides the alcohol very well. Crisp bitter finish. Thin body.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 26, 2005
Light Copper Coloring with White Skin. Hoppy Aroma. Dry Hop Taste and Dry Aftertaste. Not a Solidly Thick IPA, but What You Would Expect From a Regular IPA, Only with the Presumed Alcohol of 9.5%
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (5411) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - DEC 22, 2005
Bottle from Steve, thanks dude! Served in a standard ole pint glass:
Pours a nice deep golden hue with a moderate frothy head and left some good lace. The aroma is floral and spicy hops, citrus, bready crystal malt, and a hint of alcoholic vapors. The taste pretty much followed suit with noticeable hop character upfront support by a light malt sweetness. The citric quality runs throughout has well as a yeasty dryness. The feel is a bit underwhelming really, I expected a bit more body than this offers, it is lively and has an astrengent dry finish. A solid brew for sure, dangerously drinkable.

light brown in color, with a big hop floral aroma. malty and pretty balance in taste. something ive been wanting to try for a long time, glad i finally got to. these beers are pretty good, hope they eventually make it this far east.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 ElGaucho (2033) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - DEC 22, 2005
Wonderful, perfecl balanced, fruity, hoppy aroma. Slightly hazy dark gold in color with an off-white head. Excellent lace. Beautiful, perfect appearance with fine bubble carbonation. Initial mouthfeel is a little unbalanced in favor of bitterness. A little too thin and airy for a IIPA. Could use more malt backbone and a touch more sweetness for balance. Pretty tasty and not "knock you on your ass" bitter as some IIPA’s I’ve had are.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - DEC 20, 2005
Man,I sure hope that the nose on this is no barometer of what is in store as all I am getting from this is syrupy malts. Maybe it is the bottle as everyone else seems to have had a different opinion. It is plenty bitter and that is good as I was expecting plain malt. Still, for the style I am very disappointed.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 badgerben (4253) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 16, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2007 Original Rate, 12/16/05. Copper color with a thin color. Citrus and pine aroma. Taste is a fine hit of pine, but the body is pretty watery and lacks the malt/hops oomph to make it a good IIPA. Still tasty. 7-3-7-3-14 Re-Rate. Thanks to Skyview for bringing this so I could try it again. Much the same, but the taste is much improved. It has the same burst of citrus and pine the aroma suggests and the body doesn’t seem as watery. Two points higher overall.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 blankboy (5152) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 15, 2005
Bottle shared with tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a clear orange with a small diminishing white head. Big aroma of fresh citrus hops followed by malt -- it smells awesome. Flavour is surprisingly smooth, I was expecting a big kick of hops and alcohol but this is scarily drinkable -- hops and malt are perfectly balanced. Medium bodied. A fantastic beer!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Gorbalev (2823) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2005
Bottle shared with Blankboy. Light orange, small white head. Strong citrus hop aroma - formidable, but no sign of alcohol. Nice balanced taste - not really overpowering hops or alcohol - really balanced and dangerously drinkable. Have they created a new style, the session double IPA? Yikes. Perfect medium body. A stronger, maltier Single Big Daddy. I really enjoyed this.
