Pleasant copper-amber liquid with a moderate off-white head. Surprisingly malty aroma. Strong citric and grassy hop aroma. Large hop bitterness with a strong malt counter-balance. Well carbonated.

Pours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some caramel malty tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste.

Bottle. Pours bright copper with creamy white head. The aroma has a ton of caramel, pine sap, and wildflowers. There are also wafts of cookie dough and tangerine. The flavor is, well, bitter. But it starts out with tangerine and a little bit of malt before the heavy pinelike hops set in. Then itís piney and citric hops all the way, with just a bit of a sour edge to it. The finish is surprisingly clean, considering, and the bitterness doesnít linger for very long. A smooth quaff.

xproudfoot (750) - Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 9, 2006
Bottle. Riased stakes, well it smells citrus-malty like many "single" ipas, but it does have a lot of flavor. the malt-hop balance is bitter grapefruit most of the way, with a slight hint of tin. Itís a pretty orange amber but loses a point in my book for having no head. the palate is full, andit sticks to the roof of your mouth, has a substantial grapefruit finish. All in all, pretty good stuff, Iíd be happy to have lots of this though I can find a few better ones. The alcohol verges towards the hot on some sips. It is not long before this goes to the head.

krisbierjaeger (844) - dolores, Colorado, USA - JUN 8, 2006
a cloudy pour with a lot of froth, like machine-washing a bushel of peaches-- itís a thick fruity compote with enough suds to bathe a buffalo. there are dramatic slashes of lace sagging downward across the glass like the aftermath of a great dog fight between the luftwaffe and royal air force. aroma features both the coarse notes of cardboard and the delicate floral notes of basmati rice-- along with soap, wet lumber and pineapple husk. to my senses there is little discernable alcohol to tempt or taunt, but a strong bitterness permeates the simple malts, with a creamy feel and brisk carbonation. some orange sherbert sweetness confers diplomatically with lemon-bar, tea-like bitterness.

I preferred Big Daddy to Double Daddy. Malty aroma with lots of hops. Doesnít jump out as a Double. Dark amber. Thin head. Tastes like a well balanced dry hopped IPA. Canít believe the alcohol percentage. Long lite hop finish is surprising in its long duration. A gentle giant.

Pours a clear golden color with a faint head. Light carbonation. Very light lacing. Nice citrus, floral hop aroma. Flavor has a lot of hops with some light, sweet malt background. Very smooth finish. No alcohol warming. Medium body. A very nice beer.

Cornfield (5570) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUN 1, 2006
Iím surprised by the 9.5% abv. Itís really well hidden. Pouring a pale copper body with a slender white head, This has a sweet caramel aroma neatly hopped up with grapefruit, pine, and grassy scents. Itís somewhat light-bodied for the style, but this hopheadís not complaining. The sturdy caramel backbone nearly breaks under the strain of supporting a hefty NW hop bitterness. Not overwhelming, but pleasingly bitter for someone who doesnít mind having his lips peel off when drinking ale. If it wasnít for the alcohol content, this would make a good sessionable IIPA.

This is a rocking IIPA! What else is there to say? Lighter and not as complex as others, but you could easily sit around and drink this one all night, and not feel overwhelmed on the palate. Just the right amount of spicy piney hops, with a honey sweet malt character. Tasty

Marsiblursi (3045) - GŲteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 28, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2007 (Bottle, Oliver twist - Stockholm, may 2006) Pale beer with a light, quickly decreasing head. Aroma of hops and sweet, crushed tomatoes. Malty and a bit stale. Lack of freshness, yeasty. The flavour is bitter and flowery, a not so complex american DIPA. Medium body. Nice bottle, though.
