3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Very translucent golden, strong orange hints, large pillowy off-white head, nice lacing, soft carbonation. Soft hop nose, quite malty, subtle graininess along with caramel malt. Fairly soft bitterness, decent malt base, but not as big as I expected. More of a 1½ IPA. Getting very subtle tea or tobacco, but its very fleating. Body and mouthfeel are moderate, but it is slightly viscous. Its just not quite into "full" territory. Soft finish, very clean, ABV well hidden, tasty, just not big enough tho. Yeah, 1½ IPA for sure. Thanks Bill!

Bottle Poured a rich deep golden wotha very small white film of a head. Nice malty caramel aroma and a definate alcohol presence. Flavor was strong, and I thought a well balance Malt/hop profile. Not particularly "double" tasting and a sllight lingering ABV burn. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had on tap at the San Francisco "Brews on the Bay" Festival - Excellent Strong IPA. Medium copper appearance, fluffy off-white head. Very fresh sprucey aroma. Standard citrusy hops with a bit of a malty cake mix like back end. Some nuttiness in there as well. Mouthfeel just a tad on the stinging side. Still well done though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle poured a cloudy orange with a light head.
Light citrus and hops aroma and flavor.
Alcohol is well hidden on tis beer but still just a middle of the road IPA without much zing...not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A malty aroma along with pine and hops. Copper color body with small off white head, some lacing and decent carbination. Flavor started with the bitter hops biting you in the hind end. Mellowed out with the sweet malts a citrus flavor in the end. Kind of a dry aftertaste here, liked the regular better.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2005 Pours a hazy orange copper color, and is topped by a thin Thick aromas of malt and alcohol waft from my glass as I pour this beer. The color is reddish copper and it is topped by a thin, wan, tan head. The aroma has a sort of aged malt and hop note to it. There are notes of earthy pine-like hops and a hint of grapefruit. The taste is a sharp, prickly, refreshing blast of hoppy bitterness, right from the get go. This beer has lots of notes of pine, which compliments the sharp biting nature of this beer. There is also some malty balance here; the beer has a light malty sweetness that reminds me of caramel, and toasted fresh bread crust. This beer starts to pick up a bit of sweetness to it, as it warms up, that seems to accentuate and actually bring out some of the citrusy notes from the hops. This definitely leans more towards the sharp, bitter, astringent side of the double IPA spectrum, it is quite tasty in its abrasiveness, but is missing a lot of flavor and finesse found in the better versions of the style.

Pow! This beer uses your nose as a punching bag; it is screaming with hops. It pours a brilliant orange color with a small lacing white head and a few small bubbles coming to the surface. Lots of citusy hops in the nose. Flavor is all sweet malt up front with a citrus/wood hop flavor after awhile. Backend bitterness is tame but present. This beer reminds me of a 3F product.

Rich amber color with a medium white head and nice lacing. Smells hoppy and malty with pine and honey smells to it. Not nearly as hoppy as most Imperial IPAs but very VERY smooth for how much alcohol it has in it. Taste is just like it smells and not terribly strong tasting but very nice.

Num, yum, umhum and then some. This beast is IT. MrDick say he likes it better on tap than in bottle, but what the hell would I know as this was sampled with him at Toronado. An absolute delight.
