From bomber to tulip glass. Aroma is dominated by malt, with both a tropical hop aspect and alcohol noticeable in the background. Pours a clear orange, copper with a moderate large white head that lingers with various sized bubbles. Taste is a little cloying and slight alcohol heat. This is much more malt forward than hop forward. Piney hops start to show well as it warmed, but the hops are one dimensional. Bitter finish.

Draught at the Speakeasy, San Francisco, CA.
Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Strong tangerine and fruity hops in the aroma. The flavour is sweet fruity hops, peach, mild grapefruit and moderate bitterness. Balanced and tasty.

22 oz bomber served in a tulip glass. Pours dark orange golden with thick white head. Aroma is faintly sweet caramel malt and big earthy hops with a slight citrusy sweetness on the back. Taste is big medium caramel malt and dank piney bitter hops. Lingers substantially bitter on the finish. Lacks the nuance and balance of the better west coast DIPAs, this is still an old favorite and delivers plenty of flavor.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2015 Draft at Moriartys. Very hazy orange amber pour. Started with a good amount of pillowy white foam. Some lace. Tons of orange pith, pips and zest. Much more bitter than sweet. ABV is not hidden (and feels higher than 8.5%). Medium blonde malts and faint in the background. Ultimately feels like highly alcoholic Mimosa. Certainly fuller and fruitier than most Imperial/Double IPAs - but not particularly complex.

Itís got an amazing smoothness and a kickass bottle. Itís pretty bitter, but it isnít a knock you out of your shoes type of smack bitter, itís more of a well-balanced bitter that i canít stop drinking. This is a great beer.

Pretty good stuff. Lots of sweet maltiness right when you take a sip which turns into a nice hoppy, fresh grapefruit taste. Lots of citrus. I got some awesome tropical notes as it warmed up which was cool. It like almost became a totally new beer. Really good stuff.
