tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 26, 2009 The aroma is roasty. coffee, dark chocolate, very nice. The appearance is deep brown/black, small tan head. The flavor is chocolate, cream, roasted coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and silky, but a tad too thin for this style. the finish is roasty, bitter, good. Decent porter, if not a classic. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Oct 8, 2009 Black with a tan head. Aroma is very roasty, chocolate, cream. Taste is roasty, chocolate malt, cream. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Sep 27, 2009 Draft. Pours a black body with a tan head. Roast y with coffee esk spiciness, chocolate malt, smooth and roast y and a mild etoh warming. Nice. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 4, 2009 Tap at Rattle N Hum. Deep black beer with a sticky tan head. The nose is lovely. There is a lot of rich chocolate and cooca along with a soft chewy maltiness. There is a nice chewiness through the middle with a kiss of plum and molasses along with a chewy toffeeish maltiness. Fairly assertive roastiness as well. Intense and chewy, but not overly sweet. Nicely constructed beer with a touch of roastiness on the back. Absolutely delicious brew. Really impressive. blipp (1616), Newark, New Jersey, USA Sep 3, 2009 Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Light roasty aroma with some fruity and caramel sweetness. The flavor has roasted malt up front, coffee, chocolate, and a light wisp of smoke on the back end. Tasty and drinkable. KyotoLefty (1370), Kyoto, Japan Aug 8, 2009 Draught at Q-brick.
Big chocolate aroma, with a bit of coffee. Winey, slight dark fruit flavor, with chocolate and coffee. Roasted well. Nice rich mouth and a thick black color with a thin head. Very big and flavorful and well-done.
Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Jun 17, 2009 6/17/09 on tap at the brewhouse. Aroma is about as chocolaty as they come, but low on sweetness and with a lightly alcoholic background. Appearance is dark brown with a very well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is again super chocolate with a touch more sweetness and very low toast sourness, which balances well. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a moderate carb texture and low warmth. Overall a porter that manages to be truly ’rich’ without being just ’big’. troopie (848), USA Apr 19, 2009 Draught/ Poured black with thin tan head. Slight but pleasant malty aroma. Full flavour of chocolate and coffee. Nicely balanced. Lekker malt finish.
