On draft at the Speakeasy tap room. It pours a very dark red with a thick tan head. The aroma has lots of cherry with some spicy malt, cocoa and dry roast. The flavor has some cherry juice, vanilla and roasted malt. Full bodied with a spicy American oak woody finish. Really well balanced and tasty.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, roastiness, bitter chocolate, vanilla,. light cherry and a hint of bourbon. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, bitter chocolate, vanilla, carmel, light cherry and a hint of bourbon with a smooth lingering oak finish.

Aromas are roasty, grainy, wheaty, toasty, molasses, low esters and some chocolate. Flavors are roasty, grainy, toasty, nutty, molasses, medium bitterness, and rummy. Low carbonation with a big body and some alcohol warmth.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 (draft at Beer Revolution on 2/14) Frothy tan head. Chocolate brown. Flavor of bready grain. Bitter. No appreciable aroma. Normal body. Really doesn’t taste like a wheat wine. More like a grainy barley wine.
