On draft at the Speakeasy tap room. It pours a very dark red with a thick tan head. The aroma has lots of cherry with some spicy malt, cocoa and dry roast. The flavor has some cherry juice, vanilla and roasted malt. Full bodied with a spicy American oak woody finish. Really well balanced and tasty.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, roastiness, bitter chocolate, vanilla,. light cherry and a hint of bourbon. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, bitter chocolate, vanilla, carmel, light cherry and a hint of bourbon with a smooth lingering oak finish.

Draft at the Bistro West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Festival. Pours dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma of dark pitted fruit. Near full bodied. Dark fruit/cherry flavor with a decent amount of bourbon.

On tap at The Bistro BA Festival. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head and a cherry and bourbon aroma. There is a hearty treacle and chocolate flavor with a hint of cherry and a warming bourbon trail.

On tap at Blue Palm’s 4th Anniversary. Pours with a near black hue with a large tan head that leaves behind great lace. Aromas are roasty, grainy, wheaty, toasty, molasses, low esters and some chocolate. Flavors are roasty, grainy, toasty, nutty, molasses, medium bitterness, and rummy. Low carbonation with a big body and some alcohol warmth.

Draft. Dark mahogony beer with a dark cream head. Toffee and caramel aroma. Caramel and dark fruit flavor with vanilla. Medium bodied. Caramel and chocolate linger with dried fruit and light vanilla.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2012 (draft at Beer Revolution on 2/14) Frothy tan head. Chocolate brown. Flavor of bready grain. Bitter. No appreciable aroma. Normal body. Really doesn’t taste like a wheat wine. More like a grainy barley wine.
