Metropolis Lager pours a radiant gold, with tropical fruit aromas and a delicate floral note. Caramel malts lend a subtle sweetness to balance the dry, crisp character of the lager yeast. Generously dry-hopped with a blend of Mosaic and Saphir hops, Metropolis unites classic German-style brewing and West Coast innovation to create a refreshing yet flavorful lager.

Tap in SFO. Light caramel malt aroma with light hops with subtle floral notes. Pours light golden colored with a thin white head and very little lacing. Starts with a lot of caramel malt but not overpowering. Finishes dry and clean with a little of of floral hops on the finish. Nice, refreshing lager, but pretty standard.

Bottle pour. Clear golden, slightly copper color with a creamy white head. Strong citrus grapefruit aroma. Crisp light body. Apple, malts, and a bitter grapefruit aftertaste.

light body, but grapefruit notes don’t work so well and the body is a bit flat and boring. Not my thing

12oz bottle that pours with a deep clear gold body that has copper hues and supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up a bit of malts and roasted malts as well as lagery slightly fruity estery notes. I was expecting this lager to be crisper and hoppier and then I notice the bottle on date is six months ago, shit!! Now I see this is ratebeer styled as a Common which actually lines up pretty well with what I’m smelling and tasting. In the taste I get similar notes as in the nose with malts, some lightly roasted malts, caramel malts and then lagery esters. Beneath those flavors are faint earthy tea like hops and a thin layer of resiny hop bitterness. As a common this seems to work despite the age of this bottle I bought just yesterday.

Reminds me of a better version of Zhigulevskoe .. aka crappy Russian beer. I get a little hint of aroma of something foreign. Maybe that Mosaic hop is throwing me off a bit. Otherwise drinkable

~Rich bready biscuity malt aroma with light caramel and guava fruitiness. Interesting aroma. ~Pours a brilliantly clear golden color with long lasting fluffy white head. ~Bready malts with slight hop fruitiness and a somewhat off balanced bitterness. ~Medium to full bodied with medium CO2, lingering bitterness. ~Enjoyable lager for sure, just seems unbalanced. Bittering hops kind of ruin it.

On tap @ Smoqued BBQ. Nearly copper in color with a fluffy white head. Sweet oranges and toasted bread on the nose. Nice pine, too. Kind of a garlic note, though. Flavor has a rather intense bitterness that I wouldn’t normally associate with a beer like this. It’s okay, except for that it’s garlicy. Lots of pine, orange, and some peach. A bit of a grassy, herbal note as well. Decent malt sweetness.

Pours a light copper color with a white head. Citrus, caramel, hop, floral, biscuit and malt aroma and flavors. Medium body and carbonation with a citrus and caramel finish.

Pours a finger of head on a clear medium straw colored body. Darker than most lagers. The aroma is quite fragrant: flowers, grain and musty. Nice though. The taste is grainy malt sweetness with a descent balance of mild bitterness. The texture is a little gritty with moderate carbonation. It’s a nice, full bodied lager.
