greenhorn1 (381), Eugene, Oregon, USA Mar 2, 2008 12 oz bottle. OK, so I can some it up very simply...NyQuil. No shit, it taste just like the medicine. I even had my wife verify my conclusion, which she concurred. There is a nice aroma of sweet malt, dark fruit, and alcohol. I will have to pass on this one.
raphael (277), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 4, 2008 I think classic barleywine aroma but what do I mean like, northwest (including bay area), almost cherry on top, brandy, oak, caramel, hops burbling beneath. Clear deep amber body but little head. A little flat, heavy & tongue-attacking. brandied peach flavor, sweet but not clinging, white flour, I feel the hops more than I taste them. emerica56 (479), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Oct 3, 2008 Dumped it into a trappist glass and a thin head foamed up with some spotted laceing along the sids of the glass. The color is a cloudy ruby red. The aroma is full of malted barley and grain with a floral hop finish. Initially the flavor is semi bittersweet with caramalized sugar and malted grain. It leaves a nice tingle on the palate that sticks after you have finished the sip. Overall it is a refreshing brew and has a nice amount of carbonation. ShawnMalloy (115), Auburn, Massachusetts, USA Oct 3, 2008 Copper pour. Smells like stuff in barley wines. Sweet and hoppy flavor with a nice alcohol kick to leave your pallet numbing. Kudos to Speakeasy. beerbuzzmontreal (2743), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 30, 2008 Pours a clear reddish amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma of alcohol, earthy malt and caramel. Flavor of earthy malt, leafy hops, burnt caramel, candy sweetness. The body is light to medium with a liquorous, slightly sticky texture and soft carbonation. As a craft beer in general, it’s good, but as a barley wine, it’s average. dkachur (884), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 7, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Secret Santa Stefanje. Thanks Stefan! Ruby brown pour with a slightly tan one-finger head. Rich brown sugar, toffee, raisin aroma with some spicy and peppery hop notes. Very hop heavy taste. Major citrus notes, with some leafiness and some notes of raisins and brown sugar. Full bodied. Alcohol is warming and fairly noticeable.
