3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught at Churchkey. Black pour, beige head. Nose and flavor marked by mocha, dark chocolate, roast, half and half, and milk, with a silky mouthfeel and surprisingly easy, not too bitter finish. Good roast character throughout; nice porter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle from deftim13- thanks again, Tim! Pours a deep brown, amber at the bottom, with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, nuts, earth, brown sugar, toast, and black olives. Flavor of roasted malts, toasted nuts, earth, olives, wood, and plums. Light-medium bodied, with a roasty, juicy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Just a little off.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Churchkey thanks to Travlr! Deep sepia to muddy brune color with swathes of tan lace. Nose is Heavy roast and spicy hazelnut. Decent caramel and spice. Taste is bitter, toasty, roasty, sharp. A bit tannic. Coffee gritty. Not bad. Dry and sharply bitter. Decent coffee heavy porter. Slightly tart finish. Mild cardboard. I enjoyed it nonetheless.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Bev Mo: Created a thick formation of foamed head while the liquid was a dark brown that was completely opaque. The aroma has a cereal fragrance, but with an added coffee bean and melted milk chocolate nose as well. The flavor was sort of bland with only a minimal amount of roasted malt, and light traces of canned coffee. The price of this was fair, but this was just an ordinary porter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brought back from my recent trip to SF. Poured into a pint glass.
4.0 A: Black color. Two fingers of pillowy light brown head with average retention and a good bit of lacing.
3.5 S: Roasty with moderate coffee and chocolate component. Biscuity overall with light caramel sweetness. Smells pretty good other than a faint "industrial" aroma, that may or may not stem from the hops, which are mainly earthy and barely citrusy.
4.0 T: The taste is like the nose, but with different proportions. Equally roasty and sweet. Roasted coffee flavors offset by sweet dark caramel. Mild bitterness with earthy hop flavor. Again there’s the industrial component. Not sure what it actually is. No hints of booze at all.
3.5 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Carbonation is a bit more aggressive than I’d like. Reasonably creamy and smooth overall.
4.0 D: A couple categories were borderline next step up. If not for strange "industrial vibe" this brew gives off, it would be a very tasty one. Still, not a bad beer and I would drink it again.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Obsidian black in the glass. Lightly carbonated with tiny bubbles and thus a short lived tan head. Looks like a warm cola. Toasty nose that smells as much like black olives as it does beer. Creamy and mildly toasty flavor. Good mouthfeel and nice dark chocolate flavors linger on the palate. Hops don’t dominate (as they shouldn’t eighths style) but they are present and give good balance. Good but not exceptional.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle:   Lucious little Porter here.   Deep deep brown, lovely head, large and foamy, light beige, nice lacing.   Smooth, oh so damn smooth on the tongue.   Soft roastiness, a little bit of coffee and chocolate.   Now this a Porter!   Smells like a Porter Milkshake!   Soft hops, which is preferable.   I am not a big Porter fan, but this one makes me forget all those nasty astringent or overly hoppy messes that most people call a Porter.   Yeah, good stuff this is!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rich brown body with a thin tan head and a bunch of bubbles noticeable. Strong roasted malt aroma with some chocolate and coffee, but mostly a very roasted malt. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty flavours with a lot of sugars, a touch of lactic flavours and a bit more roasty and tobacco notes at the end. Overall, a good porter, strong and potent, but showing good complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Draeger’s Market in Danville, California on 18-March-2011 sampled in Danville, California.
