COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American hops provide a smooth distraction for Payback Porter’s robust strength, which is concealed within the shadows of dark imported malts.

(On tap - Toronado) Completely black and opaque with a beige head leaving a pretty lacework. Soft aroma of roasted malts. Medium body, plenty of roasted malt - only a vaguely burned touch - and some dried fruit. Has an underlying sweetness and a very subdued bitterness. A very well crafted Porter. 250307

Bomber from the Co-op in Davis, CA. Pours very dark brown with ruby notes at the edges. Huge foamy tan head. Deep rich aroma of chocolate, and arguably some darkly roasted malt. Medium body with foamy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is astringent coffee/dark chocolate. A bit chalky. Quite smooth. Thickens in the finish. Really good porter.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with some slight reddish highlights and a minimal off-white colored head. S: The nose is pleasantly roasty with some nice notes of coffee and a touch of smokiness. There’s a bit of sweetness to the smell as well. T: The flavor is much like the aroma would lead you to believe. A touch of smoke along with plenty of roast and coffee and just a hint of chocolate. A light bitterness on the finish to work well with the other flavors. M: The body is medium with a tingly and medium level of carbonation. D: A very nice porter by Speakeasy. I never would have guessed the beer is 7.5% ABV. I’d pick this one up again.

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours pitch black with a small, creamy, beige head. Great retention. The aroma is a fantastic mélange of espresso, deeply roasted malts, dark chocolate and toasted tree nuts with whispers of anise and black licorice. Full-bodied and chewy with laid-back carbonation. The flavor provides sweet, robust espresso and dark chocolate flanked by black malt and American hop bitterness that is anything but overbearing. Bittersweet, mocha and licorice finish. Perfect breakfast porter… mainly because I drank it at 8:30 AM. World class beer!
