3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft sample and full bottle enjoyed on the lawn at NY Brew Fest with Andrew, Pat, PJ, and Feng Daddy. Pours a deep blackish -brown, with a frothy light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, malts, and oat while the finish showcases a slightly hoppy backbone. Body is on the full side for a porter. One of the best beers at the festival.

Tap @ Russell Street BBQ... Poured dark brown, near black with a light brown head. Looked like a big glass of espresso. Lots of roast and cocoa flavors with hints of coffee, caramel, vanilla and a slight hop earthiness to balance to roast and sweetness.

Sample at GABF 10/13/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Pours black with a medium tan head and top ring of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with a roasty character of coffee and malt, along with some dark chocolate and hops. The finish is malty with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Nice roast flavor to this porter. Great value as well, copped a 22 for 4 dollars at the local store. Overall itís a pretty good porter, and not that this matters at all but I love the artwork on the bottle as well.

Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Fantastic aroma of chocolate and coffee, alcohol, malt, and organized crime. This beer is oppressively black, with a head that is constructed like a sea of spider eyes, staring back into you like a room full of suspicious bookies. Warm, alcoholic aftertaste. Rather light on the tongue, like a Colt Pocket Hammerless Model 1903 in your jacket pocket. Smooth, not terribly bitter, with the typical porter notes of coffee and chocolate in the flavor profile. Not bad, very pleasant beer. I was audited by the IRS and interviewed by the FBI after enjoying this beer, true story.

651 ml bottle. Pours a medium, well retained light beige head, with some lacing, over a blackish brown (SRM 35) body....nose is heavy chocolate, lighter coffee, hints of sweetness from the malts, light herbal notes from the hops.....taste heavy chocolate, light coffee, slight dried fruit sweetness from the malts, hops add light herbal bitterness, finish is light hop bitterness with slight roasted malt bitterness, minimal esters.....mouth feel on the heavy side of medium, slightly sticky, alcohol warmth slightly present, carbonation makes a creamy mouth, and a clean finish. This is a nicely balanced beer which meets the style of Robust Porter. Perhaps a slight increase in hops would be beneficial. BJCP 8/3/16/5/8
