3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 PilsnerPeter (3019) - Flushing, New York, USA - OCT 14, 2012Notes from my backlog: Pours a deep brown with a tan ring that laces slightly Mild aroma- wafer notes with very light roast. Clean and boring. Fizzy light body, too carbonated. Peppery charred flavor with bitter malt husks and inky. Some chocolaty roast on the back but it’s inky with a slightly astringent bitter husk finish. Needs refining.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 JDBaker11058 (922) - Maryland, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Appearance: silky near-black pour, with a surprisingly thick and creamy tan head, with decent lacing. Aroma: rich bittersweet dark and milk chocolate, cream, vanilla, brown toast, coffee. Taste: roasty dark malts dominate up front, with chocolate, caramel, cream, and a bit of nuts; then there’s a wave of mellow, slightly piney hops. Finish: smooth, roasty, slightly dry, with a bit of chocolate pudding flavors lasting the longest. Notes: Really enjoyed this porter. Smooth, creamy, roasty, chocolatey, everything I look for. Probably one of the top two or three standard porters I’ve ever had.

Bottled.
Black pour with a fine tan head. Excellent lacing.
Chocolate yeasty nose.
Chocolate, coffee, malty. Little to no hop character. Nicely bitter finish.
An extremely well balanced porter. One of the best examples I've had. Ranks up there with Edmund Fitzgerald.

Nice roast flavor to this porter. Great value as well, copped a 22 for 4 dollars at the local store. Overall it’s a pretty good porter, and not that this matters at all but I love the artwork on the bottle as well.
