American hops provide a smooth distraction for Payback Porter’s robust strength, which is concealed within the shadows of dark imported malts.

Nice roast flavor to this porter. Great value as well, copped a 22 for 4 dollars at the local store. Overall it’s a pretty good porter, and not that this matters at all but I love the artwork on the bottle as well.

22 ounce bottle. Translucent black, brown color topped by a big rocky tan head. Rich roasted malt aroma has hints of charred wood. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor has notes of licorice and smoky malt. Tasty and smooth, with notes of cocoa and spicy hops. Very good and a must try.

A killer porter overall with tons of big roasted malts, big espresso notes and a underlying but heavy hop profile. The pour is purely black with a thick foamy tan head. The nose is sweet and roasty with big espresso and coffee notes as well as light chocolate and vanilla accents. A mildly fruity hop in the middle peaks out amidst heavy roasted notes. The finish is bitter and lingers on for sometime adding a good balance of rich, roasted malts and contrasting hop bitterness.

keanex (1289) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - APR 14, 2014
On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Deep opaque chestnut body with a foamy light tan head.
Aroma: Slightly smokey with sweet chocolate, burnt malts and a hint of roast. Boy this smells very nice.
Taste: Balanced bittersweet chocolate and burnt malts with a touch of smoke throughout. The finish is slightly astringent of burnt malts and bitter chocolate, but it is appropriate. This is damn near a perfect porter.
Palate: Medium bodied, moderately carbonated.
Overall: This is a damn good porter, the price is the only downside to this that I can really think of. This is up there with Founders Porter and Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald.

650ml bottle pours black in color with a finger and a half of light beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate with some dark fruits and mild roasted grains. Taste is a chocolate malt and dark fruity sweetness with a mild roasted grain and a herbal\citrus hop bitterness. An interesting porter that begs to be sampled.

On tap at Unos Maple Shade with some girl scout cookies. Aroma is roast chocolate, iron, and slight coffee. Pours dark brown black with a white head. Taste is roasty coffee, chocolate, and iron. Pretty thin mouthfeel. Solid porter, well worth a few rounds.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a black color with a small foamy light brown head that left a bit of lacing .The aroma was faint fruity hops with notes of red wine, cola and roasty malts. The flavor was thin, bitter and roasty with notes of red wine, fruity hops, cola, anise, tobacco and almost gin. Medium length finish. Light to medium body. Weird and not good.

Bomber from Whole Foods. Pours dark blackish brown with tan head that clings well. Nose is black caramel malt, cacao, mild roasty and rauchy molasses. Tastes roasty caramunich malty, with cacao, lactic milk-stoutiness, and a creamy finish. Fairly dense palate heft and a notable complexity throughout. This one is a repeat buyee for Doc Lock.

22oz. Looks like a nice porter however the taste is average at best. Purely one dimensional. I was expecting more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
