3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. I never really drink too many amber ales, but had to try this because of the label and name. It was quite a nice brew. A lot more toffee and caramel taste than I am used to ambers, with nice slick toasty mouth feel. It also had quite a bit of hopping too, a really unique amber.

1.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a ruby red with a thin white head. Aroma is hard to place..fairly horrible. Taste is similar...not good. There’s a fairly disgusting aftertaste....

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled on 03/13/14. Nose is crytal-heavy with sweet hops and a touch of caramel, pours a very pretty scarlet with full carbonation and a rocky tan head. Taste is somewhat dry with hoppy bitterness striking firmest at the back end, lots of earthy toffee and caramel with faint booze seepage. Light-medium body, barest hint of dough behind the bright citrus, crystal, caramel. A little green, but only barely, otherwise really refreshing and strikes a nice balance.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours clear maroon with ok head and lacing. Finishes kind of bitter and rusty. Not my thing really - a pour out. Tap at DC Beer festival.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
650ml brown bottle. Orangey red pour, fairly clear. Small but creamy and long lasting tan head, good sticky lace. Nose has some bright pine and citrus hops and some earth and caramel. Taste has toffee malts, nut, toasted malt, bit of roast and earth, orange peel and piney hops. Aftertaste has citrus and pine hops and a bit of lasting malts. Medium bitterness. Overall a very pleasant amber ale, good balance and way better than expected.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear amber with a 1-finger bone-colored head. Aroma of grapefruit hops with some caramel malt underneath. Medium body with a light dryness to the finish. Flavor of grapefruit hops that lingers through the finish, with a touch of caramel underneath.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a moderate light tan head on it. Nose is well balanced with a nice mix of slightly floral elements and a bit of caramel coming through. Taste is a little sweet, yet remains light enough to be an easy drink. I can’t complain about this one too much. Not bad.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE TASTED: March 3, 2014... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky’s Tavern pint.. OCCASION: a Strat and Game of Thrones night... APPEARANCE: intimidating dark amber body; thick, creamy, beige two-finger head that proudly sits a good duration... AROMA: beautiful balance of caramel malts and bright West Coat hops; low citrus, more aromatic and flowery...PALATE: good beer/head mix in the sip, with the creamy viscosity rounding full-bodied impact...TASTE: a BIG pale ale, as old and well-intentioned as the 18th amendment itself; big pine cone bite, warm and malty late... OVERALL: I came back to this beer a decade after I introduced it at a house party (it was wildly successful that afternoon)--and after taking it to a poker night, I found a similarly positive reaction; strong, demanding pale ale that gently shakes the teeth and smooth out the throat; the caramel especially sweetens the end...
